Super User the reel ess Posted January 6, 2021 Super User Posted January 6, 2021 My sister bought a place at the beach and there is a canal and pond on the property. I'm looking to get a 2-pc MH BC rod for bass on the $50 range. Something I can pack in the family car when we go. I already bought a cheap spinning rod. I was looking for the Lightning Rod Shock, but I don't see a MH 2-pc. 6-6 to 7' would suffice. What you got? Quote
Super User jimmyjoe Posted January 6, 2021 Super User Posted January 6, 2021 Try Fenwick Eagle. Because they're transitioning at this time of year, I don't know what you can find, but I know they have (or had) 2-pc. casting rods. jj 1 Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted January 6, 2021 Super User Posted January 6, 2021 Once you get down there, go to a tackle store, get something area appropriate, and keep it at your sisters house. Buy a rod tube to store it in if you have to. My thoughts on cheap fishing gear is that you get what you pay for. For the record, cheap fishing gear is not decent fishing gear on close out. From time to time there are bargains to be had in that department. Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted January 6, 2021 Super User Posted January 6, 2021 Same answer I always give for the $50 range Aird-X - there's a 6'6" Medium (AIRX662MFB) and a 7'0" Medium-Heavy (AIRX702MHFB) in two-piece casting rods. 2 Quote

I'd replace them with better, but they refuse to stop working. There's cheap, then there's CHEAP. 16 minutes ago, MN Fisher said: Same answer I always give for the $50 range Aird-X - there's a 6'6" Medium (AIRX662MFB) and a 7'0" Medium-Heavy (AIRX702MHFB) in two-piece casting rods. That one keeps popping up in my search. Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted January 6, 2021 Super User Posted January 6, 2021 This BC is being used for salt water I'm assuming @the reel ess? 1 Quote

Super User Jigfishn10 Posted January 6, 2021 Super User Posted January 6, 2021 Would it make sense to try and get something from the flea market here? I got a nice 6'6 Fuego from here to be used at my summer home for a very good price. It came in and to my surprise, it was never used. Still had the tags and the plastic protector on the cork handle. You could have the seller ship to your sister's home. 2 Quote
VolFan Posted January 6, 2021 Posted January 6, 2021 That Aird-X is nice. I also have a couple house rods from Cabelas. I do a similar trip and just take a couple less expensive combos and a couple okuma travel swimbait roads. Nothing worse than having rods bouncing around with a cooler and dog crate and bag of fruit and kid's stuff and 80 lb lab etc etc. 1 2 Quote

Born 2 fish Posted January 6, 2021 Posted January 6, 2021 I got a fablink travel rod off Amazon for 40 bucks it’s a 4 piece with case. I take it to Florida every year it’s been great. 1 Quote
LCG Posted January 6, 2021 Posted January 6, 2021 I picked a used Shimano compre 6'10" MH-XF casting rod, 2 piece for travel a few years ago, Works great. Think I only paid $40. Check out used rods, you will find something decent for your price range. 1 Quote

Super User the reel ess Posted January 10, 2021 Author Super User Posted January 10, 2021 I settled on this one. Mostly because I had an Amazon gift card and there weren't many MH 2 pc BC rods available. It does have good reviews. I'll give my own review when I use it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PZBHB8P/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 1 Quote
