Primitive fisherman Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 Just received a new dobyns Sierra 704c today and when I was inspecting it for damage it had this “bubble” on it. Should I be worried about it and get a replacement or is it nothing? Quote
Super User bulldog1935 Posted January 5, 2021 Super User Posted January 5, 2021 looks like a random drip of epoxy to me. You might shine a flashlight on it to see if it is a hollow air bubble in the blank, but I think it's a drip from wrapping and coating the guides. 1 1 Quote
Craig P Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 I agree with bulldog, it just looks like an epoxy or flexcoat drip to me. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 It’s just a drip, if it’s bothering you , it could be scraped off with a popsicle stick or old credit card. Gentle warming with a hair drier should make it even easier. 3 Quote
Primitive fisherman Posted January 5, 2021 Author Posted January 5, 2021 It was just epoxy. I got it removed. Unfortunately, now there is a little paint missing from the blank there. It is just one of those things that no one else will ever notice and has no affect on the performance, but I know it is there. 2 Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted January 5, 2021 Super User Posted January 5, 2021 What color is the blank underneath the black paint? If it’s white or a lighter color, I do the ole “you might be a redneck if you...” and take a black sharpie to it. 2 Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted January 5, 2021 Super User Posted January 5, 2021 If you plan on fishing with it, I wouldn't worry about it. If it is a show piece, I would send it back and demand a new one. 2 Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted January 6, 2021 Super User Posted January 6, 2021 It will have friends in the first week of fishing. 2 Quote
Super User FishTank Posted January 6, 2021 Super User Posted January 6, 2021 You will probably put a small ding in it at some point. I say fish it and enjoy. 1 Quote
throttleplate Posted January 6, 2021 Posted January 6, 2021 do as i do, i buy equipment to use hard and dont worry about scratches only performance. I look at scratches as memories, battlle scars as i wade through thick brush to get to my spots. If i worried about dings and scratches i wouldnt own a vehicle then. 1 Quote
