Hey y'all! I'm looking for some expert advice. We have a man-made pond on our farm and we are hoping to drain, reshape, and lay stone, but were hoping to keep the healthy bass/bluegill/fish population that is there. Any advice on how to do that?

Talk to your state's Department of Natural Resources/Department of Fish and Game - they're the best ones to give you help.

Get a huge tank and take them elsewhere seems like the only way

The fish in the pond will need to be relocated to another body of water that is similar in size, or the fish will need to be spread out over several ponds.

Is there any way to build a smaller holding pond below the current pond so when it's drained the water will run into it and fish could be transported to it? That's the only thing I can think to do.

After a little more thought it would be easier to just restart the population than to save the current one

Of course what he does is all dependent on one thing - what his state's regs say about transplanting fish. That's why I suggested contacting the state.
