Hate it.  But I do a lot of things I hate because I know the results will pay off.

In the winter time, I almost don't even consider it fishing.  I just think of it as casting practice.  I lower my expectations to prevent frustration.

It’s actually my preference. I’ll cast spinnerbaits and crank ‘em in, but “cast and reel-cast and reel-cast and reel” is not my main style. I’m much more a slow and methodical angler.

Cast and wind is cool but nothing ever bites it

Hmm. I like catching fish. Fishing fast is fun, but catching is more fun. If I have to fish slow to be successful, so be it.

I fish slow using worms and such. When I have a good feeling about a spot and I'm using soft baits I'll throw out there and let it sink and sit for a few amount of seconds and reel it in a bit and then let it drop in the spot again. Sometimes slowing down and focusing on feeling helps a ton too, in my case.

I let he fish dictate the speed.

As others have said, you first have to find fish. Often times that is with search baits like crankbaits or spinnerbaits. If I catch a few smaller fish in an area, I will often slow down and probe the area with a jig or worm.

Most of my bigger fish have come from a slower presentation, after I have located them.
