Anyone know anything about their rods? From what I could gather, they have been making fly rods but now are in the bass rod market. I saw them on tackle warehouse, but can’t find much on them.

They are made in Central NY and have a following with the locals.

Yea I seen that a lot of there staff is up north. The rod itself felt nice the xmatrix definitely felt better then the ldr not sure if performance is $100 more. Looking for a dropshot rod and others I’m considering is Sierra or champion 702s or the tatula elite ehrler edition

I’ll wake up this old thread. I bought three ERA’s to try out, a 7’ M/F spinning, 7’ M/F and 7’1” MH/F casting rods.  They’re well built and pretty sensitive for a $99 rod. The spinning rod is listed for crankbait/topwater, which is strange for a M/F in my book.  I fished a wacky Senko on it and while the tip is fast, the bottom 2/3 feels a lot like an Abu Veritas Winch I have.  I tried a few different treble hook lures and the rod works very well, transmitting a lot more vibration than I expected.

The two casting rods behave like other fast action rods I have.  The MH is good for stuff like T-rigged worms and 3.8” Keitechs but is a little light for setting the hook with a jig.  The M fishes Senkos & tubes nicely.

The Bait Monkey made me take advantage of Doulas’ 12 day sale and buy two X-Matrix jig rods.  I currently use Kistler Heliums for jigs.  They’re in the Helium’s price range. Douglas emailed me telling me they use Toray blanks, as does Kistler.  It should be an interesting comparison since both are USA made.

DogBone, I don't plan on buying any more rods, but would still be interested in reading a review of the X-Matrix.  I did a lot of research when I was looking into buying a couple fly rods for bluegills.  If I remember correctly, the Douglas line offered good value for the money.  However, I was looking for cheap.  :)

Isn't that the case for most of us?

Kind of.  Swore I wasn't going to buy any more reels as I already had more than the number of rods.  Wound up buying 2 more last year.  Done buying them as well.  🤣

I found out today that Douglas rods are made overseas. I had bad information.

I picked up a Xmatrix 745F today. I’ll give a report when I get to fish it after the thaw.
