The worst ones that ever got after me were in Alaska. They weren’t massive like the SC version but they made up for it in numbers

ever watch the show naked and afraid? watch the episodes where the skeeters are in the millions and attacking for 21 days. I would have to tap out its not worth the prize money.

I have seen that. I still have itchy tick bites where the sun doesn’t shine and I slept in clothes in a tent. Needless to say I would never sign up to sleep naked outside

sucks when at 3 in the morning when you scratch your neck and realize its a tick burrowing in and your friends tell ya to go back to sleep and will dig it out in the morning.

Nice friends ha!  Be sure when you wake up to start 2 weeks of Doxycycline too - only about 50% of those with Lyme disease test positive for it... so just start in ask questions later..

Nah you’ll be fine, they are just hard to catch in oct/nov. they eat like sharks when it’s snowing

I just looked at pictures of Cherokee and Norris... man, that water is beautiful - looks almost turquoise.  We talk about clear water in Minnesota, but most of our state is milfoil infested.

Those two reservoirs and a few others are so deep they move slowly most of the time and the lower ends stay clear almost all the time.  Check out south holston and watauga too!

Go home to the river and see if Mother Nature has turned some things around or me with the Smallies.

Fish more tidal water. Take a few more of those road trips this season. Usually have successful trips in tidal. (Only place I can get reddish color patterns to work)

Catch a nice size SnakeHead while bass fishing tidal. ( have never caught one )

Reach out to a few guys on this site to fish together with. Try to do a couple of those road trips to the south and catch a spotted bass.

I thought I knew Mosquitos until I went up into Chippewa National Forest above Grand Rapids MN for the first time a few years back.  If you get caught outside at dusk with no DEET, you may not make it......

All of that area is like that - I know this from living for 6 years in Bemidji, which is the next 'major' town west of GR on US-2

I’d like to expand on some areas I worked on last summer on Georgian Bay for smallmouth.
It was a fantastic year out there for them, with many, many days of 50-100 fish and multiple fish in the 3-5lb range. I really want to keep going out further into the open part of the bay, there’s so many shoals out there that have likely never seen a fisherman, and I want to keep looking till I find the mother lode of 5+lbers. Mainly though, like most on here, I’d just like to get out more often.

improve core strength, stamina, and flexibility so my back doesn't start bothering me halfway through the day... There's nothing more frustrating than trying to focus on fishing and have patience when you're distracted with pain

Since covid, I've been working from home and sitting on my butt for 40hrs a week and I'm starting to feel the consequences of that when I get out on the water. no bueno...

Any bait that I do not at least fish in 2021 is getting sold at the end of the season.

This process will continue until all I have left

are baits I actually fish.

Here we go . . . . .

Way More Finesse fishing. There’s so much more lures and equipment now out there to try.

my goal is to buy a 1 piece 7.2 foot graphite rod and figure out how to fit it into my 2004 honda 2 door civic withut putting the back seats down.

The back seat is allready packed and i dont want the road noise getting worse from the trunk and the wife likes the air conditioning in the summer and exposed trunk will kill the air.

I am currently using ugly sticks new carbon 2 piece spinning rods which to me are fantastic but dont come in a medium heavy.

If you have a roof rack, you can cap a large diameter PVC tube on one end permanently and thread the other end, number of rods you'll be able to take being determined by the diameter of the tube you get, best part is it takes about 5 minutes to attach and you don't have to keep it there full time if you prefer not to...I'd advise an 8.5 or so foot piece, but obviously if you mess with those 9 ft swimbait rods go bigger, just make sure your diameter is large enough to fit your hand in and grab rods if you go 9 or 10ft tube.

This is mine as well for 2021! Only had my boat out 4 times in 2020.

My goal is to crack the code of offshore structure fishing.

To quit beating the fricking banks

5 lb smallmouth

6 lb largemouth

Get better with my electronics

You are roughly equidistant from St Clair, Saginaw Bay, and Grand Traverse.  My goals would be a 6 lb smallmouth and a 5 lb largemouth if I lived where you do.  Good luck!

no roof rack. I will have to measure from the base of the windshield to the base of the back window and see if it will fit that way. It will then run between the the front seats and along my shoulder.

A-Jay, with all due respect, I don't believe it will ever happen.

What I am going to do:

- Spend more time looking for new areas that will hold SMB.  I say this because here in MI the water levels are rising so fast that I think the habitat is changing and my old spots may not be as desirable for the fish as they are for me.  Great memories, though.

- Stop in the middle of the day, have a sandwich or a chicken wing, and calmly ask myself  "What am I not doing that I should be considering."  This is to expand my options from doing only what has worked in the past but isn't working today.

- Don't take short-cuts on knots.

-  Don't procrastinate, go fishing on the dates that worked in the past.  Things change so fast that next week won't work.

-  Forget about fishing the slop during the first week of duck season.  This is not something that is universally appreciated.

I need to get out more than 1 day/week and diversify a bit. My wife isn't going to give up her weekend river trip but I have several worthwhile lakes close to home with the potential for decent fish. The only think keeping me from it is being so darned tired after work. LOL

You're welcome to review the few posts I made.

See how many times I've not done what I said I would.

I'll wait.

A man is only as good as his word.  A concept lost on so many.

A-Jay, please don't take me so seriously.  I'm not doubting your integrity.
