Super User Boomstick Posted December 28, 2020 Super User Posted December 28, 2020 It depends if I got the fish or not. If I got the fish, and it feels big I usually focus on landing the fish. If I lost the fish, you may hear me saying various profanities or just "Jumanji" Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted December 28, 2020 Super User Posted December 28, 2020 I dont usually say anything if I'm by myself. If someone is with me I will usually give them a heads up and say "fish or bite" or something. Quote
evilcatfish Posted December 28, 2020 Posted December 28, 2020 "I think we're in business" "Uh oh, what do we have here?" Quote
Super User Darth-Baiter Posted December 28, 2020 Super User Posted December 28, 2020 “Here we go....” Quote
JK Jake Posted December 28, 2020 Posted December 28, 2020 Normally I don't say anything but if i'm dragging a big jig or a Carolina rig and my buddy is fishing with me on the front deck I'll quickly tell him to watch out or duck his head before I give a big hookset. Quote
Super User bulldog1935 Posted December 28, 2020 Super User Posted December 28, 2020 I talk to the fish. If I'm keeping count, will say, "you're number xx" Quote
schplurg Posted December 29, 2020 Posted December 29, 2020 In almost every video I've made I hear myself saying what sounds like "Ooop!" followed by "Got one!" or something similar. I need to do a montage someday. Quote
Super User Sam Posted December 29, 2020 Super User Posted December 29, 2020 While in a tournament - very quiet - say nothing other than "get the net" Fun Fishing - Geaux Tigers! 1 Quote

Super User BrianMDTX Posted December 29, 2020 Super User Posted December 29, 2020 16 hours ago, They call me “Gaiter Salad” said: “Here we go....” I really had to think about this, as although I basically fish 100% solo, I know I “talk”, especially when I lose one lol. And having thunk about it, I believe this is what I say the most times when I get a bite, set the hook and a fish is on. Actually a strange thing for a Ravens fan to say! 1 Quote
Super User bulldog1935 Posted December 29, 2020 Super User Posted December 29, 2020 Glenn Madden who kayak fishes off the TX coast says, "Yip-Pah." When he took out a couple of Aussies for kings on topwater, they picked it up, too. Quote
Hook2Jaw Posted December 29, 2020 Posted December 29, 2020 For some reason, I like to say "bwaaah," when I've got a bite. My brother tells me I sound like Hank from King of the Hill. 1 Quote
GrumpyOlPhartte Posted December 29, 2020 Posted December 29, 2020 Don’t really get to set the hook enough to develop a habitual verbal response. More likely say to myself, “Was that REALLY a bite?” 1 Quote
Super User Log Catcher Posted December 29, 2020 Super User Posted December 29, 2020 If I think about it when I hook one I say you're not allowed to get off. You have to stay on the hook. Once in a while they actually listen to me and stay on until I get them in the boat. Quote
5/0 Posted December 29, 2020 Posted December 29, 2020 Usually don’t say anything. If partner hooks up I’ll say Net? a couple of times. If no answer I grab it anyway. That’s just about the time they swing the fish and hit me in the head with it! Quote
BassFishinBrandon Posted December 29, 2020 Posted December 29, 2020 On a good day its "fish on" on a bad day its "*expletives* finally". When I'm with my wife it's a lot more of just laughing because Ill crank out a bunch of fish out of nowhere and I know she gets mad and starts organizing the tackle lol. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 30, 2020 Super User Posted December 30, 2020 If my wife fished with me I would do everything to make sure she caught most of the fish and hopefully, the biggest. Quote
ThatZX14Fella Posted December 30, 2020 Posted December 30, 2020 I usually don't say anything. If I do, I say, "ope." 1 Quote
Super User MassYak85 Posted December 30, 2020 Super User Posted December 30, 2020 Depends.... If I miss it's a long drawn out "awwwwwww" If it's small I usually don't say anything and just boat flip the fish before whoever I'm fishing with even notices I have one. If it's at least decent size I usually go "there's one"....followed by "NET!" if it's big, or "OH MY GOD" if it's really big lol. Quote

I believe I say "There's one" or something like that. 14 hours ago, roadwarrior said: If my wife fished with me I would do everything to make sure she caught most of the fish and hopefully, the biggest. I don't have to try. That just naturally occurs when I take my wife or daughter. But neither have any interest in the sport now. Unless my daughter has a kid who like fishing I won't get to pass it down. Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted December 30, 2020 Super User Posted December 30, 2020 I have realized that I frequently say to myself, "Set the hook hard this time, dumazz!" 1 Quote

Super User Darth-Baiter Posted December 31, 2020 Super User Posted December 31, 2020 I fish solo most of the time. I still talk to myself. my saying (that I noted above); “here we go..”. I mumble to myself for a myriad of reasons. A phone call I’m expecting, a turkey walking into my archery shooting lane, waitress putting down a plate of food, AND the tap-tap-tap of a bass sucking in my bait offering. ”here we go”. It just works for me, and it’s like a signal fir me to get to work (ot something). I’m weird. 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted December 31, 2020 Super User Posted December 31, 2020 Before.......half the time I set the hook before I know it. Tom 1 Quote
