I give up.  2020 has been a pain.  I miss my friends and the laughs. I’m calling “uncle “ and not cooking.  I did a prime rib for thanksgiving and it was okay.  Not the same without a crowd.   Next year I’m firing with both barrels.

Christmas?    A frozen lasagna, salad, and copious amounts of wine. :)    Now I should have time to paddle out and cast for deep fish.

let’s eat.  Merry Christmas folks.  Pre-spawn is coming!

Standing rib roast, twice baked potatoes, steamed-fresh broccoli.

Mini pecan pie for the wife, dutch apple pie for me.

Home-made mead.

The kids are 20 years gone, and the wife and I can't eat (or cook) like we used to. Because of the pandemic, no one is coming over and we're not going anywhere. We'll probably have chicken noodle soup with garlic bread.

But I'm determined to find a pecan pie ........ somewhere.   ??         jj

Didn't see my parents for Thanksgiving so we are getting together for Christmas. Mom is making chicken and dumplings, a pecan pie and a homemade cheesecake.

My wife is cooking a ham with all of the fixings.  After that it's apple pie.  I'll go light on the ham and fixings to make room for an extra piece of pie.

chicken parm, meatballs, garden salad. Then some blueberry pie. I know I was doing something else but I found blueberries and changed my mind. ?

I think my wife is making her cheesecake as well.

Fish and pasta on Christmas Eve. Ham on Christmas Day.

Same here.

I live with two of the pickiest eaters on Earth so the fish and ham are only for me.

Christmas Eve will be clam chowder in a bread bowl, Christmas will be a standing rib, Yorkshire pudding, mashed potatoes and whatever is left on the bar cart that I didn’t drink the night before.?

Usually go to my Uncles house on Christmas. He’s a really good host. Has all kinds of appetizers from pickled fish to cheese and crackers to cocktail shrimp. Plus plenty of booze and beer. Then the main course which is slow cooked oven roasted prime rib and cheesy hash browns. Unfortunately, this will not be happening this year because gathering with others is too risky in my book. Both he and my Father are heart attack survivors and I’d never forgive myself if they got sick because I was present.

That prime rib he makes is to die for. It’s so tender you can cut it with a fork. Makes me sad I can’t enjoy it this year. ?

My wife cooked Christmas dinner for an average of 8 house guests for 27 consecutive years. She’s a terrific cook and her dinners are delectable, but Christmas was always about company, and little to do with food. My recollection of our family gatherings is crystal clear, but my recollection of stuff we ate is hazy at best   ☺️

Beer tenderloin, mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, and some fresh rolls.

Normally I cook for 16 but only 6 adults this year.

Beer tenderloin? Not sure what that is but it sounds like the best thing ever?

We’re doing prime rib and a ham. I’m looking forward to the prime rib, it’s been forever since I’ve had some.
