Lucky craft pointers

I know lucky craft pointers are a staple of jerkbait fishin.  But there’s so many different pointers. I just recently bought some LC lightning pointer. Only 10 bucks. Has anyone used these? How do they compare to the regular pointers?  I hage the lightning staysee and lightning pointers. I was thinking of getting some regular staysee and some extra

deep pointers for deep water jerkbaiting.

they are slow sinkers like the rapala shadow raps. pretty sure the 'regular' pointers come in both suspending and floating models so really not a direct comparison. just another tool

The lure started the “jerk” bait presentation was Smithwick Rattling suspended Rogue and is still a good lure at bargain prices.

Daiwa introduced the TD Minnow in the early 90’s prior to Lucky Craft Pointers. The term sticky hooks came from the TD Minnow, you couldn’t pick it up with getting stuck in the fingers.

LC original pointer like TD minnow came In 1 size but had ghost colors that opened the door for LC as anglers would pay the $18 price back in the 90’s. 

I still have both TD’s and original Pointers (now 78SP) no reason to buy anything else.

Deeper running jerk bait try a Top 20 Rogue.

Might as well get them & get started.  Once you start down the road of trying/collecting different jerk baits, there isn't any end to it.  I own over a hundred different jerk baits and dozens of times I've restrained myself from buying more.   On any given year 6 or 7, maybe a dozen of them actually see time in the water.  I understand now that I collect them just because I think they are cool looking.

 

In the spring the, when for me it time to fish jerk baits, most of the time I throw Lucky Craft pointers and most of the time I'm throwing the Table Rock Shad pattern.   I have had days when the smaller 78 size was the ticket - imagine that, Table Rock Shad was the color that worked best in that size as well.

Those TD minnows still work well and are in my top 5 jerkbaits list.
