Funfishin Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 Hey Y'all! I don't want anyone to give up their super secret spots but I am new to fishing and visiting my in-laws in South Jacksonville (Mandarin) over Xmas. Wondering if anyone was willing to give me any insight on bank fishing spots to practice fishing at. Not looking for massive fish, just to practice fishing. Even if I catch some dinks, I would be more than happy. Appreciate any replies! Quote
NoShoes Posted December 23, 2020 Posted December 23, 2020 Any neighborhood pond in Florida will have some fish in it. Ronnie Van Zant park has a big pond stocked in the back all bank accessible. Quote

Super User N Florida Mike Posted December 26, 2020 Super User Posted December 26, 2020 I wish I had seen this earlier. I grew up and live near mandarin. You can fish the pond at mandarin park on mandarin rd . I caught a 7 pounder in there. There are 3 ponds at the greenland rd park. Its called palmetto glade ? park I think. Dont waste your time with the back pond . Fish the front or middle pond. Caught a 6 at the middle pond. You could also go across the creek on 13 to Davis pond blvd and fish the pond right on 13 at Davis pond. I park at the library and walk over. Caught a 4 in there. Go up the road a half mile and you can fish the big pond on the left. A 12 pounder was caught there. Hope this helps. Stay in touch- I also live on a good bass lake in the baymeadows area. You can come fish here if you want. Mike Quote

bcinJax Posted Tuesday at 08:46 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:46 PM Hey Nor. Florida Mike. I'm wondering if we might be able to get together sometime to bass fish. my girlfriend and I just bought a house off San Jose in Mandarin, and it seems you mentioned you grew up in the area. Gonna check out the spots you mentioned, but would love to get together if you have some time one day. 410-804-1706- brian. cheers Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted Wednesday at 09:57 PM Super User Posted Wednesday at 09:57 PM Hey Brian, Welcome to the area. I’ve been trying to go some myself lately, but it’s mostly been limited to work route ponds in between stops. I don’t have a bass boat anymore so most of the time I fish small waters in N Florida. I do have a small lake I live on and a small jonboat, , but not sure when I could work in a trip at the moment. The bass fishing is fair in there, but a otter ate a bunch of them so the fishing’s not as good as it was pre otter. It’s also my busiest time of the year at work. Maybe we can go before the summer, because the fishing really slows down then… Quote
