Picked up this reel to use on the local trout stream, but the size and weight seems like it would pair nicely once I got it out of the package with a 6’ 3” M St Croix Eye con spin or maybe a Dobyns 6’ 9”ML Sierra (not sure on this one).

Is this size reel stout enough to hold up to bass? Regardless it will be on an ancient uncle bucks crappie rod for trout most of the year.

That reel has served me well over the past year. I've caught quite a few bass on it paired with  a medium light lightning rod. Great little reel.

The Sienna 2000 will be fine for bass. Given that you are looking at medium and medium light rods to pair it with and are likely using it for smaller baits and lighter line, you should be fine to step down to the 1000 really. 7 pounds of drag should be more than enough.

More than adequate. It’s just a bit smaller than a 2500 reel. However if line capacity is a must, I’d move up to 2500 or 3000.

I will be using it mostly around reed beds so only a 20-30 foot pitch and some around docks, so shallow water. The lake it will be used on if I fish deeper water I will have some setups with larger Pesidents and Regals.

Glad to hear this as I think it will really balance well on the shorter eyecon.

2000 size is plenty. I've got 1000 size on my L/F and ML/F rigs, 2000 on my M/F and MH/M rigs. I only go to 3000 on my MH/F jig-skipping rig.

Realize that Pfluegers 'size' is misleading

Sizes are approximate

Pflueger = Others

20 = 500

25 = 1100

30 = 2300

35 = 3000

40 = 4000

9 times out of 10 I have my size 20 (same as Shimano’s 2000) on my ds rig and even when I use it for other techniques and applications, it has been more than adequate. It not like we’re battling a marlin, lol. ? I think that reel will serve you well.

I also should have mentioned that I have that reel in the 1000 size. Once again, never gave me any troubles! Good deal even at full price.
