Flippin & Pitchin Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 As the title states....will a Tracker dealer negotiate? I have priced a Pro 16 and Pro Team 170 TX at my local BPS and then got on the internet and found the PT 170 for nearly $1000 less about 6 hours away. Their site says no haggle pricing. The Pro 16 with a 25 ELPT runs a tad over $9,000 with the PT 170 running a bit over $12,000 with a 25 ELPT at BPS. Quote

5151 Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Make sure they both include dealer prep and freight charges. Quote
done Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Make sure they both include dealer prep and freight charges. In my experience with tracker. they would not haggle on the BOAT. However, they would in the charges above, and some of them will have other options for the trailer and/or motor that could save you $$. Quote
Sfritr Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 A customer of mine is a boat salesman for BPS here in Mi. Due to downsizing and cutting costs many of the salesman are now having to drive to other BPS to pick up their own boats in order to fill orders. Talk to the salesman,or woman. This may give you a little bargaining power if you pick it up yourself. And, No they probably won't haggle on pricing. Quote
TopDog Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Why are you asking us?Go call your local dealer and find out. Because the dealer will say no, Im sure he asked here to see if anyone was able to break the ice. You can get the deals on all the extras (trailer upgrades, fish finders, boat covers, trolling motors, and Gift cards to Basspro). Be prepared to haggle, and then walk if you dont like the "deal". Just my .02 Quote

Al Wolbach Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 I believe many dealers that would not haggle last year will this year due to the economy. The BPS that I work at would not take trade-ins until this year. Times are tuff for boat dealers in my area and the rules are changing. While at the local Ranger dealership last week registering for a tournament the owner told me Genmar had filed for chapter 11. I have not verified this on snopes. In my area there are Tracker dealers besides BPS and I am sure they will haggle. This may be an option for you. Quote
Uncle Leo Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 When I bought my Nitro at BPS I walked away with a bunch off sticker and additional goodies to go with the boat. It is like everything else, give and take, and if they want to move a boat they will. GO negotiate! Quote

I am not dead set on a new boat, however I have had a hard time finding a used aluminum boat with a 25 hp on it. I don't want anything to old either, so it kind of narrows my search down. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted June 21, 2009 Super User Posted June 21, 2009 So you're still waiting for us to tell you whether a BPS boat sales manager will haggle or not? Nobody here has any idea how desperate or not that manager is to move some aluminum and fiberglass off the lot. The only way you'll know is to ask and get the guy to work with you. Quote

And the post I referred to mentioned nothing about haggling or a Tracker dealer. Quote

The only way you'll know is to ask and get the guy to work with you. Whats with the attitude man? The guy just asked a simple questions to see if anyone else had an experience with haggling with the company. If you thought it was stupid you should have kept it to yourself. Instead you had to come off like a jerk to everyone else who has never met you or talked to you. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted June 22, 2009 Super User Posted June 22, 2009 I bought my 19tx from Bass Pro. I told them I could get the somewhere else for about $1200 less. They said (in a nice way) "go get it then." They said they sell enough boats at the listed price without having to haggle with a customer. I bought from them because the boat that was cheaper was like 4 states away. Quote
Super User Sam Posted June 22, 2009 Super User Posted June 22, 2009 I never heard of tracker negotiating but who knows in this day and age? from the responses, it seems no one has been able to negotiate. i understand that you can get some nice accessories or a BPS gift card. as for genmar, it is their saltwater boats that put them in a poor financial situation causing their reorganization. Quote
boneil Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 My experience with tracker is that they will not negotiate. I was buying a new Z8, and tried to haggle on price, accessories and even gift cards. Tracker would not budge even though I walked out on them. I even called two other tracker dealers to see if it was just my dealer, and no luck. I was even paying cash, they didn't care. Quote

They said they sell enough boats at the listed price without having to haggle with a customer. I bought from them because the boat that was cheaper was like 4 states away. Bingo! That sums up the experience of buying my PT 175 TXW last year. I looked all over and at every tracker dealer anytime I pulled the ready to walk attitude the response was 'have a good one.' After a LOT of searching and checking around I finally paid their sticker price (including the freight and dealer prep charges as listed on the tracker site). Good luck. I do know that depending on the time of year they have better 'extras'. If you buy during fishing season (now!) they give a $450 BPS card, but in fall or winter that same purchase gets you something like a $700 card. Quote
SoFl-native Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 I just bought an 08 txw175 as part of the steal of a deal promotion. That promotion already had the boat a couple thousand below prep and freight price. After some haggling i got them to throw in a $250 gift card. I tried for 2 gift cards and they said "see ya". I walked. Then went back and did the deal. From what i learned their cost on the gift card is half, and the rep makes 3% i think. So if he is making 300 bucks he might be willing to throw in a 100 buck gift card (costs him 50) to get the deal done. Haggle until they say no. Quote
