Well I had some Scorecard rewards saved up, picked up this unit for $498.22 out the door.

Hopefully good price for good unit. This will be my first depth finder with more than 2d charts. And I do like the fact that I will probably add Livescope next year

I’ve heard nothing but good things about it. I’m getting close to pulling the trigger on one myself.

I have one on my kayak and absolutely love it......no complaints whatsoever.

Switched from Lowrance and never looked back.

Have 3 of them - price is good since it comes with the gt54 transducer.

Heck of a unit for the price they are selling for.

I have 2 of the 7” units and love them. Can’t seem to find the range rings on waypoints though?  Probably user error, but the units are great.

I have two non CHIRP Echomap units and asked before about them and was told they don’t have them. Maybe the newer ones have them, it’s a really nice feature that would be very handy.

They’re actually listed in the Echomap manuals as a feature.

something to think OP if that’s a feature you want.

That’s good to hear. I’m looking to get one soon and would love that feature.

@Sprocket you’re the Garmin pro, any help on how to enable this feature?

This is the exact unit I have on my kayak. It's all around a solid unit, very user friendly, once you get it setup you don't have to adjust it too much lake to lake and pretty solid imaging.

The downside that I experienced was sometimes the GPS is a little bit off in my location. I had the latest update at the time. I have since turned WAAS/EGNOS on, but haven't been to the lakes where I had the problem since so time will tell if that fixes it, but likely it will.

Pretty solid price.

Yep, I forgot about that........there's times I'm fishing on land.......lol   It's not off by much, and usually only when I'm in steep sided quarries, but it is off.

Yup, one time it showed my path into the deep water as going alongside railroad tracks. Funny thing is someone else with the same unit said he didn't have the same problem in the same lake, so I'm hoping WAAS/EGNOS will fix that. I'll be spending a good amount of time at that lake next year for sure, small lake, tons of structure and got my largest two fish there.

I've gotten into the habit of mapping lakes that already have maps.   You never know how old the original is so it can't hurt. I've found some nice structure doing that.

I’ve looked at the Navionics maps on this and and the maps on my older Garmins and there’s a huge difference! I’ve found some really nice potential spots on the Navionics that aren’t on my older Garmins. So when I get my new Echomap I’m going to be doing a ton of mapping.

I actually don’t get those options. Chart setup doesn’t have the appearance option. Probably just need to call.

Have you updated the firmware on the unit? (Instructions in the manual)

First thing I did after installing my 7cv - updated the firmware.

I did back in August. I’ll have to check to see if there’s been one since. Good idea!
