Smells like fish Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 How does the 50 size compare to the 55. Is the action the same? Is it a fish catcher as the 55 is? For 4-8 feet deep is there a better option? Would you rather throw an og Wiggle Wart, a new rap wart or another wart nock off or would you just throw the 55 even in less than 9’? What’s your guys thoughts on using the 55, any suggestions and pointers? Quote
rangerjockey Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 Take into consideration where I live and fish and that I own dozens of pre rap warts they are still the best as long as I can reach them with it. I like the RK 55 no matter the depth . I'd rather grind it. I see no use for the 50 , It doesn't hunt as well as a good wart but then neither does the 55. There has been a few attempts at knocking off the OG Wart but they can't duplicate the plastic that was used or the sound. 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted December 18, 2020 Super User Posted December 18, 2020 Consider this; I sold all my crankbaits and kept 2 brands if I get back into bass fishing or invited to backseat. 2 custom ghost painted Bomber 7A’s and 2 Major Craft Zoner hunters, 1 crawdad and 1 bluegill. I catch more bass per man hour on those lures in the 6’ to 9’ depth zone. Zoner Hunter works better for me then original Warts. 7A just keeps catching Bass year after year. Tom 2 Quote
Smells like fish Posted December 18, 2020 Author Posted December 18, 2020 I was thinking of your Zoner Hunters last night @WRB I didn’t recall seeing them listed for sale when you sold lure lots, maybe you sold them local I thought. I didn’t know you kept any lures (I am glad you did and I hope you’ll use them) I had seen you mention them in many older posts I searched through last night. I see they are available on the auction site from like Serbia or somewhere. Has anybody ordered these from those sellers? Are these Japanese made lures or Japanese designed and China built? I have a few of the old warts, some of the new, some Wiggle O’s, Rock Crawlers and am looking at the Major Craft and 6th Sense Curve not really out of need but want thanks to Bait Monkey. Quote
Super User WRB Posted December 18, 2020 Super User Posted December 18, 2020 Kept a few lures including Zoner Hunters that run on average about 5’ and the 7A that run around 9’. Didn’t keep any deep divers because sold my cranking outfits. I can use the Splash-It rod for the Lures I kept that include a few top water and jerk baits. Keeping it simple. Tom Quote

What’s your guys thoughts on using the 55, any suggestions and pointers? The 55 (Right side of pic) is my go to mid depth crawfish crank and has been for a while. Fish it on MH Cranking gear and 15lb FC - down to 10 feet Max. Has accounted for several 4 & 5 lb brown bass. The 50 (Middle of pic) is smaller, and I fish it on M Cranking gear and 12 lb FC - down to 6 ft Max. Has produced smaller fish for me - nothing over 4 lbs The 6th Sense Curve 55 (Left side of pic) is a killer bait. Size-wise fits nicely between the 55 & the 50. However I still throw it on M cranking gear and 12 lb FC - good down to 8 ft. Has produced better than the 50 but not quite like the 55 A-Jay 6 Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted December 19, 2020 Super User Posted December 19, 2020 A-Jay nailed it. There is one other bait that is rarely or never mentioned and that is the Normans middle N. It has just a bit wider wobble. It’s a much overlooked bait that has caught a ton of fish for me over the years. 3 Quote
Smells like fish Posted December 19, 2020 Author Posted December 19, 2020 Nice looking box of “tools” there @A-Jay and in the usual suspects as far as make and color! What was your perspective in the past on the og Wiggle Warts? Have you gave the current Storm warts a trial run? Quote

Although I've been around a while, and the bait monkey knows, I've fished a seriously insane numer of baits in my time. The list is long and distinguished, however, a wiggle wart is not on it. Funny right ? As popular as any bait ever, and I just never owned or even fished one. So there's that. A-Jay 1 Quote

I don't know if they have been changed any since Pradco bought them out. Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted December 19, 2020 Super User Posted December 19, 2020 They are made in Guatemala but the quality has not suffered. My favorite color pattern is Reverse Crawfish. Good luck finding it though. The secret is out. 2 Quote
Smells like fish Posted December 21, 2020 Author Posted December 21, 2020 So tell me something about these warts and wart copies, the chrome colors or Shad look alike models, why no love for them? Looking at A-jays box I see exactly what’s normal for these lures. Crawdad imitating paint jobs. Do the other wart colors get good results? I even heard Epic Eric say he buys the chrome colors cause they are cheapest to have repainted. Quote
TBAG Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 I'd stick with the 55. I even fish it in shallower depths and have success. I absolutely slayed them a few weeks ago on a 55 until I finally got it hung and after 20 minutes trying to get it back I gave up. Quote
