I will eat almost anything put in front of me, but due to some extreme laziness, I never really keep any fish that I catch.  I am not opposed to it, but I can never get excited about the extra work and time involved.  I often fish until dark at locations 30-90min away, so the last thing I want to do when I get home is clean/package fish.  I didn't grow up fishing, so I never learned to clean them, which means I would have to devote a lot of fishing time to making shorter, closer trips so I had the time and energy to deal with my catch once I got home.

I figured someday I will make a fishing friend who is into catch-n-keep and that will give me the kick in the butt I need.

We are infested with smaller northern pike here in Minnesota and it limits and stunts the growth of other species as well as pike. So I’ve been on a mission the last couple years to keep the smaller ones and remove the Y bones. It might be the best meat out there IMO.

I also keep 16-17 inch walleye and Jumbo Perch are a delicacy. Started keeping a few White Bass this last year and they are awesome if you remove any dark meat.

I too have started a pike REDUCTION fishing attitude.  after 3 years of Keeping my limits in a 1 mile area. Bingo !!  now the smallies & others are doing GREAT !!

I carry 1 small salt water rig with a 9 " diving perch pattern . I Do use the Pike as chunk bait with people who never fished enough.
