Please don't send the bass police to come take my crankbaits, and spinnerbaits away. I promise to catch a T rigged bass before the end of the year. The bass police are on their way now 1 Quote

Dens228 Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 On a deep diving crank.........as in a 20 foot deep. Although I have caught a few that deep on lipless cranks. Go figure. Quote
billmac Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 My list was stuff I've tried to catch bass with and failed (even if I didn't try very hard). But some aren't even on my radar. I don't think I have a spoon of any kind in my tackle. I used to throw spoons for pike all the time when I was a kid. I've caught a ton of pike on buzzbaits, but I doubt I'd throw one for bass. Quote
Super User Darth-Baiter Posted December 15, 2020 Super User Posted December 15, 2020 Jig frog punchbait but I just started fishing 5 months ago. Quote
InfantryMP Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 Been bass fishing for about 15 years for fun of course.... I have never caught a bass on: Swim Jig, Deep Crank (10+), Spoon, or a rooster tail. I will say I have only started fishing a swim jig for the last year or so. Quote
PotatoLake Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 Jerkbaits and Bladed Jigs are my conundrum. I put A LOT of time with these each year, and each year I just shake my head at why I cant buy a bite. My theories. I fish jerkbaits in too murky of water. I fished up in Rainy Lake this summer where its stained but pretty good visibility and smashed em with jerkbaits. In Missouri, nodda. Need to hit Stockton or Table Rock and see if my luck changes. Bladed jigs, I have no clue, I've caught one fish in my life on one, I'm not sure if I'm fishing them too fast or what, don't know. I've tried all the colors, brands, different trailers. I suck at it. Quote
Super User Spankey Posted December 15, 2020 Super User Posted December 15, 2020 Big monster worm - 8” or longer. Just started messing with it some during the dog days this past season. But have not wrote it off yet. Need to fish it harder and smarter. I have a fear of using it more than the fish fear seeing it I guess. Maybe I just don’t associate it to bass up here in the northern part of the country. Silver Buddy type lure. Really could care less about it. But have caught trout on it. To me it’s a trout lure. Back years ago I struck out with the Dances Eel. Should of worked but it didn’t. Fished it hard. I would like to try some sort of Alabama Rig. Maybe a smaller version. Would be neat to catch one like that or two or three at once. I really don’t know anything about fishing like that. Quote

All of my fish are caught on the center wire, never on an outside bait. March through early June around here the Alabama Rig is almost required to collect a check in local tournaments. What really trips my trigger is targeting MONSTER striper with the rig. 1 Quote

If I was a young buck again 30 years old I’d throw it all day long. No sense wishing for that. Those days are long gone. The reason for going for one on the lighter side. My thought for this use is on the river. Fish right along lay downs and along docks. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 15, 2020 Super User Posted December 15, 2020 Well, I troll for striper with a version we call "The Mississippi Rig". Thirteen arms including the center wire. Most of the fish are 15-20 lbs, but we occasionally catch a big one! My main buddy landed a 43lb followed by a 38lb for me on our last trip. Our best story was when my partner caught 19 to my 1. I was the "net boy". 1 Quote

Fellow bank burner here, I have caught plenty of bass on a drop shot with a nose hooked trick worm or finesse worm and light wire hook. I broke off on a massive one with a wacky rigged magnum trick worm on drop shot this summer. Best catch on it was a 3 lb with a nose hooked finesse worm, shaking it in a gap between thick matted grass. 1 Quote

You only need about a foot of visibility for a good jerkbait bite. 1 1 Quote

I fish a canyon highland type reservoir that has almost no flats at fishable depths (so I'm almost always fishing a steepish bank, usually parallel to the bank at a somewhat consistent depth, say 15'to 25' deep), and I am always casting my dropshot rigs to target areas away from the boat that are 30' to 75' from the boat. Sometimes I will be casting up near or onto the shore and dragging it into the water. 1 Quote

Luke Barnes Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 Something everyone says is a key bait this time of year...... A suspending jerk bait. Spook Wacky rig, but just started throwing it two trips ago. Then a bunch of lures ive never thrown so obviously cant catch something if you dont throw it Quote

TheBasslayer Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Time for me to get these lures off my mind. The full list of mainstream baits I've never caught a bass on. 1. Topwater/frog(Don't use often though) 2. Spinnerbait 3. Crawfish imitation(That will hopefully get off my list in the spring) Quote
