LOL, this is meant to be more like a virtual confessional. No judgment.  Another one I would not have guessed. I would think monster 10" and 12" texas rigged worms would be killer in your neck of the woods. Quote
keagbassr Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 As for a bait I've given a few shots and never caught one that would be a lizard. Also, While not a total fail bait i did catch my 1st fish on a lipless crank in about a dozen years a couple weeks ago. Quote

I'm sure they would in the hands of a skilled worm fisherman. Believe me I have tried the big T rigged worms. I have a dozen packs of giant worms, with lead, and tungsten bullet weights, in all sizes. One day last summer I spent all morning fishing 12 inch T rigged worms crawled through large tree branches in 25 feet of water. When the afternoon wind picked up I put a spinnerbait on and fished the same trees. I instantly landed a bass over 10 pounds. I tried fishing them in some flooded grass. Then tied on a buzz bait and landed an 8 pounder. I haven't given up.  Quote

I have a separate bag just for plastic night fishing baits, and I usually don't fish those baits in the daytime. 5 minutes ago, slonezp said: Any Live Target bait. LOL, ouch. Quote
JK Jake Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 Football jig I’ve caught a few off of a flipping/casting jig, but never off of a football. I will definitely be working on that this winter.  Hard Plastic jerkbait Most of the lakes I fish are dirty and full of submerged timber I can’t see so I haven’t thrown one of these much at all. I was front of the line to ridicule them for years. Somehow I came into a Livetarget Smelt jerkbait. And now I have to admit, those things will outfish Pointers and Visions many days.  I busted my buzzbait cherry this year, but I have yet to catch anything on any sort of wake bait. 1 Quote
Super User DitchPanda Posted December 15, 2020 Super User Posted December 15, 2020 Drop shot...planning on trying more next year but my limited experience with it has not been possible. Â To the guys that haven't caught a bass on a senko....are you only fishing them after a fish kill? If there's a bass in the lake it will happen Quote
LCG Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 A hallow body or hollow body popping frog is the vain of existence. Not even a blow up. Close to giving up. Quote
Sphynx Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 Brush hogs give me no end of trouble, I don't know if it counts, but I get bit on them, fairly regularly, but d**n if I have ever managed to hook up on one, no idea why I have so much trouble with them, but I invariably end up late, or yanking the thing out of a fishes mouth, or mistaking a snag for a bite and breaking off, I spent probably 15+ hours of on water time last year trying to break the curse, but the curse is still winning. Just now, Columbia Craw said: A Poes cedar Crankbait. Â Ouch, no kidding? I caught my PB of 12 lbs 13 oz. on a Poes cedar plug, in December no less, on a model 400 IIRC. Very unusual circumstances TBH though. Massive bass rolling/boiling all around us. Never seen anything like it before, or since. billmac Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 Squarebills. Bladed jigs. Frog. I don't think I've got bass on a skirted jig.  It's interesting so many people are saying they've never caught bass on a beetle spin. One of the reasons I haven't got fish on the lures mentioned above is because I have to force myself not to use a beetle spin (actually with a curly tail instead of split tail). 1 Quote
