Although they look a bit like salamander egg masses, they aren't. They are Bryozoan colonies -tiny filter feeding animals. Yeah, weird.

We have them in our lagoons down here. From what I had read about them they are one sign of a healthy ecosystem.

Have them in some northern lakes I fish here. Never seen one in the rivers though. In all honesty I’ve never caught a decent bass in and around them. Some dinks and runts over the years.

Thank you Paul. Absolutely amazing.

Lotsa amazing critters out there. I think what's also cool is that it's fisherman that would notice them and think they're cool.

I thought they were some sort of eggs too , when I first encountered them . I see them on brush and catch lots of bass in that same brush .

I thought they were eggs when I first saw them as well. So I took a photo and then did some image researching to find out what they were.

Maybe just spread on a cracker? Ca c’est bon

We used to pull it all apart and throw it at each other as kids. It’s like the consistency of brains or something! Very gross haha

That is good to know. Than I’m clearly not fishing hard enough around them.

We have those in a couple of ponds near me.  I was always kind of afraid to bump a bait into them because I didn't know what they were.
