long lipped suspending jerk bait recommendations .

Fished a rip rap dam yesterday with cranks and blanked  but a couple of times I felt fish swirl on the lure . Now I'm searching for a suspending jerk bait to fish 8 to 10 foot deep . I use 12 lb mono .

I've had decent success considering weather changes on a LC Staysee 90.  It's a good cold water bait.  On 8 lb line it gets down to about 9 to foot.  ( seen it at 10 foot on my buddy's livescope while using 8 Lb yozuri hybrid) 

 

 

The staysee also comes in an 80 size.  

 

The KVD deep diver gets deep too.  I used to use them alot before I got in the megabass and Lc train

Love the bevy shad, hard to find now but gets about 7 foot.  I picked up alit of them this year

The deeper diving Vision 110+1 and Vision 110+2 are ones to look into, I also have some of the Staysee 90's,

Ditto on the LC Staysee and the Megabass Vision 110 +1 and +2. I have used the Staysee and the +1 and liked them as much as I like the regular versions (and I am a big fan of the LC Pointer and Vision 110). Also, if you need a more finesse application, Megabass just came out with the Vision 110 Jr. +1. I don't know if it gets down quite deep enough for your situation, but really cool that there is a downsized option that gets a little deeper than the originals.

@scaleface I don’t know anything about this particular rogue but lurenet has the longer lipped version of the Smithwick Rogue Perfect 10, I think this one goes to 12’ for $3.45 and in many colors and free shipping over $25

I'm throwing the Stayzee's and the long billed MB's, but nothing beats the old deep Rogue by Smithwick.  I've got a few old spoonbill Rebel's left also.  Almost afraid to throw them because I can't replace.

 

I started throwing the Rogues over 20 years ago.  We drilled holes in them and either poured lead in the holes or pounded sinkers into them.  They were impossible to cast.  No moving weights or none of that modern stuff, but man they caught fish.

 

On 12 pound line and a long cast, if you could make a long cast, they would run deeper than you could reach with a 15 foot push pole.  I would throw them into the gnarliest tree I can find, pull them down (don't jerk, just pull) to a limb and just wait for the bite.  Almost like fishing a big worm in the summer.  Just let that big lure set there, hanging on that limb, and wait.  It will happen.

 

Man what a fun way to fish.  The new Rogues are cheap enough that can you can afford to lose a bunch of them, but the old ones are almost irreplaceable.

Another vote for the Staysee. Only long billed jerkbait I have much confidence in.
