GTN-NY Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 I found this Legend Tournament 7’1” MF casting rod on Craigslist for $80. Go to look at it and the reel seat is upside down. I tell him that and he says oops I just reglued it with gorilla glue. It hadn’t hardened up yet so I put it in place like it should be. Thanks to the guys in Rod Building section it’s now fixed. I wasn’t planning on buying it and then we started talking. Come to find out he was so down on his luck he was selling it for food money. He just lost his son 6 months ago ( I lost my son 2 years ago) and brought his daughter in-law and 3 kids into his home while he has no job because of the shut downs. So I bought it. So what is a MF Legend rod good for? I was hoping to use it with heavier dropshot setup but I’m not sure after handling it. 2 Quote
Finessegenics Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 I think it would be the perfect weightless plastic rod. Think t-rigged senkos, soft jerkbaits, weightless tubes. Other than that it’d be good for jigs with lighter wire hooks and shakeyheads too. If you like throwing a dropshot on a casting rod then sure, I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. 1 Quote

Hopefully it brings you great success with that rod. 3 Quote
waymont Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 Why was the reel seat off to begin with? That's a pretty odd story. He glued just before you got there? 1 Quote

LCG Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 Just wanted to say that it was very nice of you to buy the rod from him to help him out. It's nice to see, especially now days. I am sure you will enjoy that rod very much. 1 Quote
NJ_Snappy_Bois Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 I have this rod. it's xtremely versatile and was my first higher end rod. Purchased earlier this year and fished through the summer with it mostly throwing t-rigged plastics and lighter jigs. I think you'd be happy throwing anything in the weight range where a fast action is preferred. Story seems odd to me 1 Quote
