PotatoLake Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 Any recommendations on a reel to pair with a Shimano Intenza 7'6" glass crankbait rod? I plan on throwing 6XDs, Dredger (20, 25), plus medium divers with this. Was originally thinking Tranx and Curado range. Also having a hard time deciding between a 4.1, 5.1 or 6.1. I guess things that are important are smoothness of reel, ability to handle deep divers, and casting distance so I can get those lures down to desired depth. Any experience or advice would be welcomed. Thanks. Quote

CountryboyinDC Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 A Tranx is a big heavy reel, and I would feel more than 6XDs and the like warrant. A Curado with the 5:1 gear would be my choice of those 2. I use Lews BB1s (new generation) for most of my cranking. Regardless of what reel or rod I use, I can't get deep diving crankbaits down to their advertised depth without trolling or 'strolling'. The BB1 has good casting distance for most plugs 3/8 oz or heavier. 1 Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted December 9, 2020 Super User Posted December 9, 2020 I went with a Tatula 200H on my Dobyns 805CB Glass and have been really happy with it. I have a Lews BB1 as well but the Tatula is a better caster for me and is easier to adjust. 1 Quote
