Best colors for "Blue" water

Blue as in UV blocking anti algae pond die. It literally makes the water blue. Ive never dialed in a good color for it. Black and blue I figured the blue would vanish. I dont have any black/red or would go with that. GP maybe? No clue so anyone that has experience what has worked best?

I think you're talking about the same stuff they put in both of the ponds in our subdivision once or twice a summer. I hate that stuff. One pond isn't too bad, but one they saturate so badly that it looks like an exhibit at Sea World.

 

I'm by no means an expert on this, because I battle that stuff all summer long. It seems like I have had pretty good results in lower light on purple, specifically "Twilight" in the TRD baits or "Tequila Sunrise" in Strike King. Those "Morning Dawn" type bright purple colors. In brighter light, more subdued purples like PB&J in the TRDs or the 6th Sense Divine Shaky Head worm. My guess is the blue in the water filters out some of the bright purple and leaves some color the fish like.

 

Also, seems like I have had some luck on soft plastics that have some glitter to reflect sunlight. Colors like "Bluegill" in Zoom Super Flukes or "Drew's Craw" or "Molting Craw" in the TRDs. Something with a little reflection from the glitter in the plastic but not full on bright colors like chartreuse. 

 

Your experience may be totally different, and like I said I'm no expert on that funky blue water. But these are just a few colors that I seem to remember doing okay on when they pump that stuff in.

That's the stuff! 99% of the time its in managed ponds and subdivision ponds.

 

I have junebug but that's about All the purple I have besides some curl tail worms, and I NEVER throw worms except stick baits. Guess I could always chang that haha. Zman colors closest I have is mood ring or meat dog. I do have some Powerbait Bottom Hoppers in Ikes Morning Down I might try. Could switch between wacky, t-rig, and drop shot super easy.

Ive fished some quarrys with blue looking water and the fish reacted the same to the naural and opaque colors I usually use.  It was naturally like that so I guess its kind of different, I haven't fished in treated ponds that turned that color.  I did notice that the fish could be line shy in that water so keep that in mind if the visibility is way up.

To me it cuts way down on visibility. I have a koi pond and used it once and it started gin clear and when I added it I could barely make out the bottom. I would test it but since having kids my pond has gone to sh.... Lets say its not well maintained now haha. Cat tails have taken it over.

I wonder how red would stand out? Ive got Delta Red rage craws and menaces I should try there.

Get by the fact that the lures shown are inline spinners, just look at colors.

Here’s what lures look like in blue water. 

As you can see, blue, white, silver/chrome, black and green show up best

The whites and silvers really stand out for sure. That gives me and idea of a stick bait color to try!

I have fished several places with that artificial blue coloration. The bass bite the same lures they do anywhere else.
