bigspirit Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 When it comes to jerkbaits for smallmouth, what’s yalls favorite “bright” color? Any other honorable mentions? Quote
Vilas15 Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 ^^ Everybody seems to like clown. Can't say I've had much success with bright colors at all but that's just me. I dont use them that much because I don't have confidence so it's a bit of a feedback loop. Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted December 6, 2020 Super User Posted December 6, 2020 Welcome to BR. Color above is Nishiki/clown. I also like Shell White/white and Aurora Black. 1 Quote
Finessegenics Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 Welcome! For jerkbaits, “clown” and “fire tiger” are classics and if you’re looking for something bright you’ll be fine with those two. I also like rapala’s “parrot” color which is a chartreuse body with a vibrant blue back but I’m not sure if any of their jerkbaits are made in that color. I know a lot of the crank baits are. 1 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 6, 2020 Super User Posted December 6, 2020 Table Rock is my favorite, https://www.tackledirect.com/megabass-vision-110-2-jerkbait-table-rock-sp.html 2 Quote

I’ve got a few clown colored jerkbaits from a few brands but I can honestly say I’ve never caught anything but pike on them! 1 hour ago, Finessegenics said: Welcome! And definitely know about fire tiger but I feel like I’ve been seeing more lately about these other (newer) colors so was wondering if I was missing out on something 2 Quote

Super User OkobojiEagle Posted December 9, 2020 Super User Posted December 9, 2020 On Big Spirit... Elegy Bone, but I'd suggest a ghost minnow color over the bright if you don't already own one. oe Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted December 10, 2020 Global Moderator Posted December 10, 2020 Orange and blue beats all other colors for me. Makes no sense but it happens so it’s what I usually throw 1 Quote

VolFan Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 That looks very 'juvie bluegill' to me... 3 Quote

Super User OkobojiEagle Posted January 9, 2021 Super User Posted January 9, 2021 Lots of love for Nishiki/clown. Bigspirit, if you want to try a Pointer 78 in Nishiki look me up, I haven't been able to catch a cold with that bait in your lake. oe Quote

I might have to reach out to you sometime, although I do have a ton of new baits to try out this year as it is! Quote
Super User gim Posted January 14, 2021 Super User Posted January 14, 2021 Don't seem to do very well with those ultra bright colors. More natural presentations like perch, shad, and bluegill produce better for me. Quote
Sphynx Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 This is the box of jerkbaits that I have assembled currently...I don't use a lot of bright colors in the sense of bold, chartreuse etc, but I do use a fair number of metallic and reflective colors, and the more natural variety. 3 Quote
