Super User MIbassyaker Posted March 14, 2021 Super User Posted March 14, 2021 Snow is now completely gone from the neighborhood, birds are out in force, neighbors are doing some early yardwork, kids walking around the block in t-shirts... And I'm buried under a pile of work with multiple looming deadlines and no escape. ? Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted March 14, 2021 Super User Posted March 14, 2021 Temp today hit low 50s...but...got this on my way back from picking up Chinese for dinner tonight. Since walleye, northern and bass seasons closed two weeks ago...they're most probably crappie-hunters. 1 Quote
Super User slonezp Posted March 15, 2021 Super User Posted March 15, 2021 Been snowing here the last 4 hours. The remnants of what hit Denver. Shoud be on its way to you shortly. Quote

Denny Posted March 16, 2021 Posted March 16, 2021 My little pond has finally lost all its ice, time to go start practicing some casting when the warm days come. The few bass in there wont be real active for a few more weeks if it stays warm Quote

Sometimes things in life change. I had a fish and ski when the kids were young. Moved into the Predator long before my grandson was even thought of. He doesn't have a dad and it's my duty to step up. I'm pondering a move in the not so distant future and Lake Michigan might be my new home water. I picked up the little guy on Sunday and my daughter was already asking when I'm getting a new boat which, of course, makes me regret selling it, but better days lie ahead. Hopefully more grandchildren as well. He and I spent a few hours at Bass Pro looking at the fish tanks and lures and we'll probably go crappie hunting this weekend. 3 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted March 17, 2021 Author Super User Posted March 17, 2021 Just a quick local 'conditions' update. Seems we may be WAAAAY ahead of the usual open water schedule. We have quite a bit of bare ground (which is crazy for March here) and the forecast looks very favorable to keep the ball rolling in the right direction - More to follow . . . A-Jay 3 Quote

Well alright. Visual progress. Next week looks very rainy too. I see multiple days of rain likely. 1 Quote

I see multiple days of rain likely. Ya - the one between Crystal Bay and North Arm is 90% clear, the one between Crystal Bay and West Arm by Fletchers is clear with the area just outside the east entrance to Fletcher's docks also opening up. Visited with my dad yesterday for his 87th b-day (he lives in Golden Valley) and took Old Crystal Bay road up from 51 since the Tanager Bridge is closed for rebuilding...so passed over those two on the way there and back. Deephaven Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 The St. Alban's bay bridge has been open for nearly a month. Water is ripping down my driveway today and warming the lake further. It won't be long. Quote

Super User gim Posted March 18, 2021 Super User Posted March 18, 2021 I didn’t realize this but virtually the entire state is also in a stage 1 drought. Portions of northwest MN are in stage 2 drought. So ya we definitely need rain too. Quote

Super User A-Jay Posted March 20, 2021 Author Super User Posted March 20, 2021 The first day of Spring 2021 has finally arrived. Always a fan favorite. Although the thought of this day may conjure up images of birds singing, flowers blooming & butterflies all over the place, that's really not happening up here yet. In reality, there's still some snow on the ground, nothing is growing in the partially frozen mud, and apparently most of the birds & all butterflies either didn't get the memo or they missed their flight north. It's been a fairly long winter so I'm attaching what I hope we'll be seeing again soon. The Greenness happens fast and is over way too soon. 32 Days and a Wake - Up ~ A-Jay 3 Quote
