Ambushed. Total ambush.

I was gonna go fish and then come home to remove an ancient potato-vine hedge from a wood fence destined for replacement. The fence contractor won’t touch the vines.   Instead I moved everything around, organized, and then removed the ancient vine from the wooden fence. In my youth, I would have skated thru. Now, I’m so tired!  Haha. I googled earth a new lake for tomorrow, but my kayak looks so heavy now. Maybe I should pretend to go fishing and sleep in my truck under a shade tree.

btw - who grows vines in wooden fences anyways?  It is a bad idea. I bought my house this way. From a crazy lady. She planted the vines AND BAMBOO!

the moral of the story?  Dont flake out on yourself and skip fishing :D

I hope you learned your lesson. Next time pay someone else to do that stuff AND go fishing.

Going fishing after work definitely gets harder as you get older. I used to work a hard day and then enthusiastically fish or hunt. Then I started to skip the fishing or hunting and actually feel guilty. No I finish work and don't even want to do anything else. I'm just done for the day.

Now if that doesn't give you something to look forward to. LOL

What was wrong with the location of the furniture?  Were you able to be comfortable while watching the foot ball game?  What is wrong with vines?  Hope you realized you missed a chance at your PB.  Yard work is for people that don't fish.

x3 Lol.  But I can honestly say that I have been in the same position before and a simple Honey-do list item took it all out of me. Hopefully the earned Brownie Points make it easier to go in the future.

I taught my wife how to run our Stihl HL 91 K Hedge trimmer and if the vine is 1 & 1/4 inches it'll make short work of it. So when she's trimming I'll pull my boat out of the garage, so I can respool and organize tackle while keeping an eye on her. All indoor work is for days it's raining so hard I can't see the truck in the driveway. Maybe she just needs to be sat down and explained to just where fishing is on your list of priorities. Before having the talk, you may want to invite some folks over, so she won't get out of hand. It helps that I'm twice this size of my boss I  mean wife. She is twice as mean but I'm faster. Never Skip Fishing. Yeah I'm the guy that may show up at a funeral with my boat(not immediate family of course).?

Teaching wives how to run power equipment equates to more wet lines....I see the logic.

Or do it yourself, and save that money you would pay someone to do your tasks and buy more fishing gear.

I try to work smarter not harder. She can rest while I'm fishing. I don't allow her to run the trimmer & chainsaws when I'm at the lake. If she lost a finger or something she'd want me to do her chores.

Taught my wife to be a switch hitter....just incase.

You can always buy more fishing gear, you can't buy more time to go fishing.

I have probably fished more this year than ever.  The kayak has been on the car since March.   After a full day out on Friday,  I looked at the weekend weather forecast of low to mid 40s and small craft warnings and decided it would be a great time to 'generously' choose to spend the weekend with my wife.  Saturday,  I worked on tackle and then put the kayak away.  When I came in, my wife said "You put your kayak away?  Aren't you going fishing tomorrow?"  I said, "I've been fishing plenty lately.  I'll stay home tomorrow."  She told me she had other plans with a girlfriend and I should just go fishing...lol.  So, I went out on Sunday in the blustery cold and caught one of my biggest of the year.  Win win

Happy wife, happy life. And remember, you can either be right or be happy, but you can't be both.

To be clear.  I have the best wife.  When I was single I had credit card debt and $2211.00 in my bank.  Haha. She should have run for the hills.

now? I’m at a level I never imagined possible.  She bought me my kayak.

we are a great team.  She wants stuff moved or holes dug.  Sure.  Where and when ?    I’m good with all of it.  Hell, I’m Cinderella at my house. I cook and clean. She keeps the finances clean. It’s a good deal.

she said I could buy a second kayak if I wanted.  But I didn’t.  I want the Hobie PA 360 in 12’.  That’s a big chunk of cash.  I’ll wait.

We took an armada of boats to one of my fishing mentors funerals. We do a week long camping/fishing trip that spans 5 decades and none of the participants would miss it for the world . The funeral ended up being the day the trip normally starts, we showed up all dressed up driving campers and boats and went camping after the service. The entire family said he would have wanted it just like that
