Super User FishTank Posted December 4, 2020 Super User Posted December 4, 2020 I have ordered two Abu reels from them and had no issues with the overall condition but one of the reels was just not well made. I was able to return it without question. The other reel was fine and has been great to use. Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted December 4, 2020 Super User Posted December 4, 2020 Both my Fuego-CTs and three of my Pflueger BCs came off Amazon - arrived in the same condition I'd get them from a shop. Quote
zell_pop1 Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 I have bought 4 new reels from them, Shimano SLX and Daiwa Fuego reels and had no problems except 1 was a SLX XG when I ordered a HG but the reels were brand new in the box. 1 Quote
Michigander Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 I've ordered several reels from a few companies via Amazon and all were just fine. No difference than the store. Sometimes you're getting a used or opened one but they are supposed to note that. Those are usually more deeply discounted and I buy those as well. 1 Quote

Nelson Delaney Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 I have ordered a few reels from Amazon. Never had a bad experience. I suggest ordering the reel & if you have any issues/doubts about the reel when it arrives just send it back. They won’t charge you for the return. 2 Quote
garroyo130 Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 If you are concerned then make sure to buy sold by amazon, shipped by amazon. This will ensure any issues are taken care of. I've also ordered off amazon and did receive a used reel once when i was buying new. It was promptly replaced by them. Quote
Shimano_1 Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 I've had mixed results from Amazon. Had one fuego show up filthy with line on it. They're wonderful about returns tho and had me another one on the way in a day. Sportsman's outfitters is the place to get the lews tho for 139 1 Quote
Russ E Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 Amazon is spotty. I have received a few rods and reels that were fine. I also received multiple rods that were in flimsy boxes and broken. They were replaced, but it is a pain. I will no longer order rods through Amazon. Quote

I've ordered a few rods through Amazon - of course I make sure it's drop-shipped from a reputable seller like Evike...those came in tubes just like from TW. Quote

Bought a couple spinning rods a few years back, both rods came in two smaller boxes that were hastily taped together. Both arrived with broken tips. Amazon was very good in refunding because I did not want to deal with it again. All reels I have bought from them came in new condition unless I purposely bought AWD. Like other have said, buy "sold by and shipped from Amazon" or from retailers who are known to sell sporting goods to avoid issues. Quote
Fishlegs Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 I bought one new reel from amazon, and it was perfect. I bought another that was used, but “like new” from AW, and it appeared to be brand new as well. I’m confident buying a reel from amazon if I can’t get what I want at a local store. I’m not so sure when it comes rods though. Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted December 6, 2020 Super User Posted December 6, 2020 If this helps, I'm fairly sure I've bought stuff for. Delaney's Outdoprs Inc who is one of the vendors on Amazon selling that reel, although slightly more expensive. But worst case scenario should you order from anyone and get a used reel you can still send it back. Quote
