Only time I use braid with jigs or T-Rig is if I'm tossing into heavy cover. Otherwise I have been using 12# YZH, but am going to 15# FC next year. Don't need the heavy braid for general jig/T-Rig use.

If you're tossing 3/4 oz rigs - make sure you're using a Heavy rod (Diawa/St. Croix heavy, Dobyns 5-power) as for jigs you add the weight of the hook, skirt and trailer to that 3/4, and for T-Rigs the weight of the hook and worm get added...so you're talking over 1oz total most of the time.

65 is good because it can double as tow rope or spare anchor line.   I have used it for frogging and for heavy flipping,  but probably won't go over 50 again.

I agree on 50lb being more than enough. Your rod or reel will give out before it does unless you are neglecting some sort of wear or damage. I mostly use 30lb, but 50lb is a bit more user-friendly.

I use Seagaur 15 or 17 lb  Abrazx for bottom contact baits in this weight range - more likely 17 than 15.

If I'm throwing the Biffle Bug I'm using 20 lb Abrazx.

So much depends on the “where” you’re fishing, but for general use of those baits, 12# fluoro for TR, and 15# fluoro for heavier jigs. And like @Choporoz, I also keep a spool of 65# braid in the boat for small water rescue and towing.

I have settled on 18lb Shooter fluoro or 40lb PP for heavier jigs, the fluoro for most fishing and switching to braid when I am fishing a spot where I know I am going to be dealing with pad cover and want a thinner/less stretchy line for ripping the jig free from snags.

Last year I was experimenting with using braid for glide baits and snapped one off using 50lb PP.  The next day I happened to find a 300y spool of 80lb PP on ebay for like ten bucks so I bought it.

That stuff is insane and must have a breaking strength a lot higher than 80lbs.  It was (obviously) unusable for what I was trying so I stripped it off the reel and did some yard testing with it.  Tied to a fence post and then to a broom handle, I could lean all ~210lbs of me into it and have it hold.  It took enough force to break it that I lost my balance and fell over when it finally snapped.

Flipping or=pitching into very heavy cover situations I used 60 lb Fins tied direct. Everything else 12 lb FC no leader for 7/16-3/4 oz jigs fishing deep structure lakes.

What I do is since most of the truly heavy cover where I regularly fish is in pretty isolated areas, I will try to find a fluorocarbon that works for everywhere else. Typically 15 - 20lb fluorocarbon will do the trick (check line diameter as well, sometimes they differ quite a bit).

When I get to those thick areas, I will step up to straight braid, and usually also on a heavier rod as well (flipping stick).

20# Shooter

16# Sniper

65# or 80# Power Pro for punching/heavy cover.

Never a leader

65 lb braid and 15-17 lb FC leader with the FG Knot for a smaller profile is what I use for 1/2 to 3/4.  This is my standard football head jig setup.

I am considering going to 50 lb braid though.

I only use braid when throwing into heavy cover and 50lb is more than enough.  Other wise, it's 15lb or 17lb Abrazx for jigs or 12lb Invizx for T-rigged soft plastic.
