It's winter here in the Mid South. Last week we had our first hard freeze, 24*.

The high today is 46*  and for the next ten days, highs in the 50's, lower 30's

at night.  No cocktails on the patio.

Oh man I feel terrible for you. The other morning it was 8 when I woke up...high that day was 24. No sympathy here.

Ya - highs in the 30s, lows in the 20s here the next week...with a couple days getting into the 40s.

No sympathy here either...tough it out, Kent. ;)

Just got a new trapper hat last year as my previous one finally gave up the ghost.

I’m seeing ice on the water.

I’m going to follow suit here, no sympathy from me either.

I'm jealous, I want highs in the 50s. Your patio comment is a choice. I'm drinking a beer on mine right now, lol.

I would genuinely love to look that fabulous but the wife is a Fur = Murder kind of person. Maybe I can find ethically sourced fur coats...

That’s still shorts weather up here.

And sandals - I'm still wearing mine to trot out to the mailbox or out the back door for a cig.

To be "Southern" takes about two generations. I'm a transplant, just 24 years in Tennessee.

The Rebels wear shorts and flip-flops all year.

And I've never spent a winter in my 61 years out of the snow-belt.

When I was in the army, obviously I got to live a few places far from home. Other than a proper German winter, everywhere else was.... Wrong somehow. And Kansas just sucked, cold wind and ice.

My four years in the Air Force was spent in Omaha, NE - got enough snow to not make it seem like an 'alien land', but ya...the wind coming off those flat-lands was brutal. It might get colder here, but the wind is much less so it's not quite as bad.

The wind is constant in Kansas. Awful in winter. And in the summer, that was where I learned that wind can be hotter than the ambient temperature. I had been living the lie up until that point that a breeze was always cooler.

We had lows in the teens and low 20s here and the high yesterday was 31. We have already had 4" of snow here. No sympathy from me. Just go crawl in your cave and go in to hibernation. We will let you know when warm weather comes back. :neener:

Funny thing is - Dad will still fire up the grill when it's 20-below with a 30-below wind-chill. Grilling is year round at his place.

That won't happen here. I told my wife the charcoal and lighter fluid had been recalled because it is a fire hazard. :lol-045:

Weather is beautiful here in the Deep South. This is the time of year snowbirds come to South Florida for fishing. I can't blame them since very few people enjoy fishing in less than 40 degree Fahrenheit weather. The trees are full of leaves and many plants are full of flowers. That is one of the many reasons why I am grateful living in the Fishing Capital of The World.
