Picked up a few  boats for cheap.  $15 up to $100 each.  Decent tri hull for $500.  Now I need to register them all.  Georgia has no more walk in places to register boats. You do it either on line, by mail or by phone. In addition to the fee for the sticker, you have to pay a fee to actually pay the fee!!!!  $8-$10 extra each boat just to either talk to someone on the phone or have them open an email or snail mail.  What a rip off!

You might want to double check, I think with an initial registration or transfer, it MUST be mailed in.  You fill out the green form, mail it with your $35 check (or what ever the current fee is now) and keep the bottom the bottom portion of the form as your temp reg.  Takes about three weeks to get your card back.

I called them today. That is when they told me no walk ins. You have to send in a notorized bill of sale....more fees plus a pain in a.. Then you mail it in, and tack on $8 as a fee for handling the mail. $8 fee via internet and $10 fee via the telephone. THEN you add on the cost of the boat registration.

Having fees to use the phone or the net or the mail is one thing, but when they eliminate the walk in places where you don't have to pay a fee and then the ONLY methods for payment they charge you a fee to use them....wrong!

For the 45 years I've been registering boats in GA, you've never been able to walkin and register. For the longest, it was mail in only, it's only been in recent history you could even call or go on line to do your renewal.

Now, the notorized bill of sale is a new one on me. It has been five years since I last registerd a boat but I've always just filled out the green registration form and attached the previous owners registration card along with my $35 check and a few weeks later I would get everything back in my name. This time of the year it may take a full month to get it back.

They have walk in places in PA. I bought a boat, trailer and motor for $500. Great deal, right? Yeah, untill I had to transfer both titles, pay for new registrations on both, plus the notary's ridiculous fees that cost me over $200 smackers. Pis%#* me right off!

move to CA. never. don't want to deal with all the carzy stuff and the taxes. yes Pa has high taxes, but CA is a joke.  All those fees that greatoutdoors payed was for tranfering it and those walk in places rip people off and charge way to much. after that she will be paying $6 a year for a trailer and I think $24 for 2 year reg. on the boat

Thats exactly right. The notaries charge really high online messenger service fees to initially process all the paperwork. Could have mailed it in, but I wanted to fish!
