New JDM Daiwa Baitcasters (Zillion,Alphas,Steez Limited)

Does anybody know anything about these yet or when they may be available? As a shimano guy i'm not sure if any of this stuff is ground breaking or now

I have not heard anything but they sure do look good.  I hate to say it, they sort of look like Shimano's current line up.   The Steez LTD SV TW will definitely be well sought after.

I'm looking at all three. Honestly, what's kept me from daiwas lost recently is that the usdm reels are heavy with the exception of the steez. The new tatula is now finally under 7 oz but the zillion is above. I like the lighter reels. This new jdm zillion is 6.1 and so is the alphas. I can dig that.

The new steez LTD is just the LTD version of the current Steez SVTW /w the SV boost spool.

 

The alphas SVTW is your alphas frame but /w the TWS and a deeper SV spool than what an alphas normally has.

 

The zillion is completely redesigned and while the pictures makes it look a little shimano-esque, the videos that are out on it kind of remind of me of the TD-Z in the way it palms.

 

Both the new zillion and Steez LTD have the new "sv boost" spool.

 

I think the zillion is coming stateside but not until next year. Not sure about the steez or alphas but I'd rather but them overseas anyway.

 

They're debuting this month and will be available overseas this month to purchase. The Alphas and steez are available for pre order but the zillion is not yet. Steez price will scare you but the zillion and alphas are very reasonable.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll order the zillion once it's available for pre order through the jdm market.

I would like another Steez. The site I checked said their first preorder was closed. 

 

I wonder if the price includes free shipping and a full spool? Only $658 and change.

Yeah, that's frustrating when the from what I understand the same reel in a different color without the boost spool can be had for $375 on ebay

If you were to ask about the 2014 steez LTD, i'd be able to give you quite a few differences from the stock one. But this one, relative to it's count part the steez SVTW, looks like it's just a paint scheme and spool upgrade. I love the steez SVTW and the spool in it but no way am i shelling out the 600$ JDM price they're asking for this.

Is the way it palms being similar to the td-z a good thing? I don't know anything abkht the td-z

I personally think the Td-Z was the best palming reel that's ever been made. It's really hard to believe Daiwa went away from it when the reel itself, technologically, was so far ahead of its time back when it came out in 05 (ish). A close second is the steez svTW and it's variants (steez ATW and Morethan PETW), palming wise. crazy comfortable /w how small it is. Obviously can't say for certain what the zillion feels like until I get my hands on it but from the videos it looks very similar to the Td-Z form. The only thing I'm curious about is the hyperdrive digi hear.  The current Steez SVTW variants use a duralumin gear that, while aluminium, is very, very strong and among the smoothest gear sets i've used to date. The conquest might edge it a hair but it's close. I'm really hoping they use the same gears in these reels.

A next-generation SV concept that achieves a high level of both exhilarating cast feel and trouble-free performance, and increases flight distance. The stroke of the induct rotor, which used to be a one-step operation, has been extended to achieve a second-step stroke. At low revs, the appropriate brake is applied only with the first stroke, and at the time of full cast, after the optimum braking that makes full use of the two stages, by returning one stage, the weak braking force is kept in the latter half of the trajectory, and as a result, the latter half of the cast It gained growth and contributed to increasing the flight distance."

it's a 2 stage induction rotor. I believe the spring design, based on just pictures and a couple videos, is more of a V shape rather than a  traditional "I I" shape. The idea is it will brake better at slower speeds and it will be more a long casting spool at higher speeds/more force exerted but still have the same SV control .

Thanks go to both of you.  Sounds like the best of both worlds.  Kind of like a dual brake reel.  I know some disagree, but I happen to like the ones I have.
