Yep, that’s a PB&J worm down the throat of a five and a half pound bass ?

A solid all-around color that ranks Top-5 in my soft plastics arsenal.

I've been throwing Jig-n-Craws for 50+ years, black-n-blue & PB&J have been two staple colors.

I don't remember if Junebug gave rise to PB&J or PB&J gave rise to Junebug.

Catt, the big question is at your age do you remember what you had for breakfast yesterday morning??

It's ok, I can't buy a bite on black and blue. LoL

I can't keep fish off black and blue. I have other colors, but they don't get used. If I lived in an area with really clear water, I'd probably experiment more.

Sausage, egg, & cheese Mcgriddle with a carton of plain milk...next ?

PB&J is one of those colors that just works...ya don't question it, ya just throw it.

Everyone throws a black-n-blue jig but how many of y'all throw a black-n-blue worm?

From worms to lizards to creatures to stick baits to crawfish plastics I have em all in black-n-blue!

When the bite is tough tie on an 1/8 oz bullet, 3/0 hook, & a 6" Mister Twister Phenom Worm black blue tail.

One of the first bass worms I ever used. It slayed 'em.

Is bacon & eggs a legit breakfast? Is the sky blue? Is grass green? Of course PB&J is a legit color!

There is one thing to note, is that among different brands, PB&J is not always exactly the same color. Most of the time, it's a brighter orange tinged brown color and some purple so it's better in stained water. I do have some jigs labeled PB&J that are just a solid brown color that work well in about any water as well, which is quite a bit different.

Catt I am older than you & I also remember what I had for breakfast every day for the last 3 years. a big bowl of Blueberries, Blackberries, Raspberries & Cheerios. My problem is some mornings I have to check my I. D. card to find out who I am.?

I did not mean to say most of the time the color is lighter as much as I did brown and purple (that was an edit gone bad). Specifically, I've seen the lighter color in some jigs  and then I have a couple of darker ones where purple seems optional and also how the purple is presented - purple spec, half purple, a couple purple strands on a jig skirt, etc.

I only throw 3 colors, semi clear (we don't have clear) I use green pumpkin, stain to muddy I use Junebug. When I can't decide between June Bug or Green Pumpkin, I throw PBJ.

I know exactly what your talking about.  I have some PBJ jigs that are close to orange with some purple fleck.

Very old standby color combination that pre dates silicone skirts by more then a decade in the 60’s.

Vinyl jig skirts had purple/ brown and brown/blue take your pick both work.

Anywhere Anytime is my name for black/purple/brown......does it work....you bet just look at my avatar and 5 PB bass listed.

Tom

My old man used to tell me all the time about smashing weakfish on a brown bucktail with a purple worm in the 60s.  Its just a color combo thats been around forever because it works just about everywhere, kind of like red and white.

Lonnie Stanley made PB&J jigs in the early 70s

Another color I still throw is black, brown, & amber

Brown and purple has been popular forever, essentially PBJ is or is just a different spin on brown and purple depending on who makes it.  I didn't hear about PBJ until the early to mid 2ks when everyone was throwing it, which doesn't mean it wasn't around I just hadnt read about it or seen it on TV as there was no YT and forums were just starting.

Did Stanley call it PBJ in the 70's or just Brown/Purple?

Still the same color #: 190HT (hand tied) Peanut Butter & Jelly

Lonnie was the first to make multi-colored skirts, teamed up with Don Link to invent silicone & metal flake skirts.

@roadwarrior For whatever reason the bass in most East Texas lakes like lures with orange or red highlights.

Stanley has a whole series called  Code Red ?

I think PBJ is a good color overall. Along the bottom, a good craw color, or any other depth a good bluegill imitator.

I think that's why it's successful. It looks close enough to a lot of things that are food.

The reason I added black to PB&J for my hair jigs was simple, wanted 3 colors to match my favorite pork rind colors black, purple and brown. That was in 1971 when vinyl skirts only had 2 color combinations. This was a game changer for me.

You got a line on pork trailers? I missed that boat because I hadn't figured jigs out. Other than that startup guy that stole my money the other year I haven't found any to try
