cjam93 Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 Hi guys so lately i have been really liking Powell rods and slowly adding them to the arsenal. I have only used the Endurance line so far. What is the difference between the Max and Endurance lines? Would you say the Max is more sensitive than the Endurance? Thanks! Quote
RichF Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 I'm pretty sure they are the same blanks just different components. The Max has fuji sic guides and an acs reel seat where as the Endurance has fuji alconite and an ecs seat. Quote
Super User Teal Posted December 2, 2020 Super User Posted December 2, 2020 I haven't bought any of the "new gen" powells. I have about 10 of the Endurance old ones where the Endurance was a step above the max. Now the max is the flagship rod. You can always call powell directly and ask. They have knowledge people. Both of them are good values in terms of what you get. The powell 723 is the best rods I have owened. I have 2 of them. Its rated as MH, but it's like a mag medium compared to MH daiwa rods and most mainstream. The 714 is the perfect jig rod also. The rods are not whippy, but just tippy enough to sling anything. The actions say extra Fast, but I would call them fast. The fact that the power of the rod is less that what it is rated at is perfect for moving baits and still strong enough to drive a heavy hook home. But there again this is based on last gen rods. RichF Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 I used to be a fan (still have 2 Max cranking rods) but I'm not liking their new website and apparent business model. They're now listing the new Endurances as $299 retail but on sale for $150. They've never been that much. They've also jacked up their replacement cost to $90. Don't get me wrong, they make good rods, but this stuff turns me off big time. 1 Quote
cjam93 Posted December 3, 2020 Author Posted December 3, 2020 I do have to agree I don't like the way the website is showing rod prices. I appreciate everyone's responses I did end up emailing Powell. They told me that the two are in fact built on different blanks. 1 Quote

It was replaced with the newest gen Endurance. Definitely different blanks. My max was slightly lighter, stiffer, but more tip heavy. Quote
