Super User Boomstick Posted November 29, 2020 Super User Posted November 29, 2020 Does anyone have any experience with any decent inflatable kayak/boat options? I was thinking of getting my fiancé one for Xmas or maybe her birthday (which is in May). She doesn't come out with us all the time, but this way she could join us on the water and it wouldn't be a challenge to fit it in my truck, so it would be a decent option when I'm out with the kids. sktrbtr Posted November 30, 2020 Posted November 30, 2020 I have a sea eagle 285 inflatable that works pretty good. It's stable and durable. Use it when I pull the camper and can't pull the boat. Works for me! 1 Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted November 30, 2020 Author Super User Posted November 30, 2020 @sktrbtr honestly I was hoping I could find one cheaper, but I'm adding that to a wishlist, that looks serious. We'll see what finances look like come spring. Quote
Stasher1 Posted November 30, 2020 Posted November 30, 2020 Haven't tried one myself, but the Advanced Elements inflatables look good and get good reviews. 1 Quote
floridalargemouth123 Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 Hey guys i was wondering if anyone had any adivce on this, im looking for an inflatable SUP, does anyone have anything thats worked really good? Im planning on taking thru bass fishing, snook, maybe tarpon, but not like out in the ocean, like intercoastal stuff. Price range is 0-350$ Thanks Quote
Michigander Posted December 7, 2020 Posted December 7, 2020 I picked up one of the inflatable 5-6 person boats on Craigslist and I built carpeted hard flooring for it because it was too squishy to fish comfortably from. They are a solution for a few space/towing problems but they are also kind of a hassle. 2 Quote
Super User BrianMDTX Posted December 7, 2020 Super User Posted December 7, 2020 I bought a Sea Eagle Packfish7 earlier this year. Got a deal for the premium package (plywood floor) for $399.99. I also added some upgrade for about $100.00 total (seat pedestal and seat, rod holders, yak paddle and a mushroom anchor). It’s great for the 2-3 acre ponds I fish. Easy to transport and easy to inflate/deflate. Very comfortable to fish out of all day. It rows fine with the supplied oars when seated in the stock inflatable seat, but definitely need a long yak paddle if you mod it like I did. 4 Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted December 12, 2020 Super User Posted December 12, 2020 My wife bought a couple Intex Challenger Kayaks (K1 and K2). They were inexpensive, easy to deal with, relatively durable, and inexpensive (<$100). Prices have gone up since Covid it appears. I see them on Amazon for $90 and $109. Fine for just tooling around. 2 Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted December 12, 2020 Author Super User Posted December 12, 2020 @Paul Roberts thanks! I saw those, and it's probably about all I would need to be honest but I wasn't sure if the cheaper ones might not hold up so well or have other issues. Quote

The Intex ones have held up so far, but could still puncture one. In fact, a friend borrowed one and it came back with a small puncture. Rock, she said. 1 Quote

The Intex were some of the cheaper ones I was looking at, so that was helpful. Most places we'd be using them would be fairly in small lakes with calm water and not a lot of rocks to worry about, or at least the places with rocks are avoidable. 1 Quote

Has anyone had anything to do with these? I'm kinda minded to do some exploring of the local rivers, and a proper canoe would be a nuisance to transport and store. In particular damage resistance (which presumably to a good extent goes with price). Quote

It's a bit more expensive than the competing model but it's a bit better made as well so you get what you pay for. So far so good! Quote
