Hi guys,

I moved to a new place, where my wife gave me permission to use one room just as my man cave! :party-drunk:

Looking for a rod rack that can hold around +/- 16 rod combos. Was thinking that a rotating round rod rack would probably be best, since I would be able to put it into a corder and rotate it when needed.

My research online did not really yield a clear picture on what is good quality and what is not.

Would be thankful for any recommendations!

Thank you!

I would be careful of the cheaper ones. I got one that ultimately is mostly for just rods, at Menards for like 20 bucks. And it was decent for a year or two but then broke at the seam where the 2 posts between the base and the part that holds the rods. Thankfully I was holding on to it at the time and there was no rod breakage. It turns out the section that joins the two was just plastic with a screw and a nut embedded in the plastic.

Being cheap, I bought some screws and 4 metal brackets and I was able to brace it back together and it is now probably way stronger than it has ever been. So ultimately do I like it, yeh but I got really lucky it broke when I was around to catch it and not my wife. I have mine in the master closet so it probably gets bumped once in a while. Not empty nesters yet so I don't get to steal the 3rd bedroom quite yet.

I’ve got one of these too. Pretty nice but obviously you can’t have all your reels attached. Been eyeing this one too

I have a round, spinning rack from BPS that holds 24.  I think I got it several years ago for $50 or $60?  It has 3 posts rather than a single center post, so it's sturdier than some of the others i've seen. I can even get 24 rods with reels on it at once, as long as I alternate casting and spinning, with half of the spinning reels pointed inward, and half pointed outward.

No question here, get the Academy Sporting goods ones. Built much stronger and better material and even cheaper then BPS.

Picked one up on sale at BPS 15 years ago.  Spins on a well built BB race on the bottom and the rubber/plastic rod clips on the top circle are still in perfect shape.  I have 12 rods with rod covers and reels mounted with reel covers in it right now in every other slot and there is lots of room for them.

Ceiling height is an issue for me. 7-8’ rods plus the rod holder kills it for me ☹️ Hanging them horizontal on the wall like a gun rack would be cool

I now have 2 rods I can't fit on my rod rack. It will fit a 7'4" but not a 7'5". I might have to hang a couple on the wall. I'm thinking maybe I can do this strategically as well, so along with the longest two that have to be there, I can also put my T-Rig rod up there so at least the top two rods will almost always come with me when I take the kayak out.

Got this one from TW over the summer for under 30 bucks. Holds 15 rods but it'll be a tight fit if you keep the reels on. They list it as the "Organized Fishing 15 Rod Round Floor Rack", but the box said "Old Cedar Outfitters".

It's not much but it gets the job done. The round parts are MDF and the center shaft is solid wood. My longest rod is 7'3", so height isn't an issue for me - for now.
