Super User DitchPanda Posted November 28, 2020 Super User Posted November 28, 2020 So I know this has been asked a million times but I need some recommendations. Jigs I throw most often are in the 5/16 and 3/8 range. I would like something in the 7 to 7ft 4 range. With the %20 off sale at T W I could probably swing up to about $150 before discount. Quote

jbrew73 Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 Daiwa Tatula and Falcon Lowriders are nice rods in that price range. Quote
Super User WRB Posted November 28, 2020 Super User Posted November 28, 2020 I rod IRG744C is in your price range. Tom Quote
Super User FryDog62 Posted November 28, 2020 Super User Posted November 28, 2020 I throw a lot of jigs in that weight range with a Tatula 7-1 Heavy. Excellent rod, $150. 1 Quote

newapti5 Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 In the price range, I would pick Dobyns Sierra. Very close to Champions with a much lower price tag. You can get it for around 110 with the holiday sales, and the 684 is a sweet do-it-all model. 1 Quote
Super User DitchPanda Posted November 28, 2020 Author Super User Posted November 28, 2020 Ha now my budget has been cut to $120 before discount. Any other suggestions? That would put me around 100 or just under. I'm buying another reel as well or I wouldn't be so tight on the rod budget Quote

TW has the Randall Tharp rods on sale and they look kinda cool Quote

Super User DitchPanda Posted November 28, 2020 Author Super User Posted November 28, 2020 Too many options out there even at my restricted budget. I'm really considering the Ark Tharp series 7ft 3 money maker. Its mediumhvy fast and has good reviews. After discount it comes in at $93.57 so under budget. Quote
Super User DitchPanda Posted November 30, 2020 Author Super User Posted November 30, 2020 Decided to go with the Ark Tharp rod after reading some reviews and a good recommendation. I know I woulda been happy with a Falcon or Dobyns but wanted to try something different. Quote

Excellent rod, $150. It casts them a mile too! Depending on the amount of weeds and wood you have, the 7'1" Tatula MH/XF might be a better option - I use mine for up to 1/2oz jigs whenever there aren't too many weeds. Quote
