Michigander Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 So I have been having some pain in my wrist for the last few days after a fishing trip last weekend. I found this video on YouTube and performed the stretches. I would say that my wrist pain is almost all gone now. What a relief! So if you've got some wrist pain, I would encourage you to give this a shot and see if it helps you. 2 Quote

Way north bass guy Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 After a couple different two day tournaments where all we threw were jerkbaits for 8 hours straight, I know exactly how you feel. 1 1 Quote

Jerkbait bite events are killers. After my second tournament like that, I went out and bought new equipment. LoL Repetitive action injuries are a real threat to anglers. Having options other than pills and medical bills are nice to have. 1 Quote
Way north bass guy Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 Luckily I’m a stonemason, so it seems I always have some other hand injury somewhere to make me forget about a sore wrist after fishing ?. 1 Quote

slater Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 Im 48-49? I dont quite remember.... Ive been fishing bass every weekend saturday & sunday for 5+ years, havent missed a day... mostly bubba shotting using a 7'6" 10-20lb rod & using a 1oz sinker... Im starting to get tennis shoulder in the arm that holds / works the rod..... Upper outside shoulder, where the bicep attaches to the shoulder I think. Icing, babying, trying to alter my technique & making certain the rod is more vertical to take pressur / stress off that area since the rod is so long, etc.... Monitoring it! Getting old isnt easy... 1 Quote
Michigander Posted November 29, 2020 Author Posted November 29, 2020 I've been told by several people far beyond my years not to get old, sounds like a bum deal. Not quite sure how to comply with that advice.... Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted November 29, 2020 Super User Posted November 29, 2020 Getting older beats the alternative, but it ain’t for sissies! 1 Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted December 3, 2020 Super User Posted December 3, 2020 Back when I was in my 20s, I mowed my mom's lawn with a mower with a vibration in it (caused from hitting a pipe). It did a number on my hands. First, I could barely make a first for a few days after with my left hand. The next time a few weeks. Eventually she got a new lawnmower and later hired someone to do her lawn, but I couldn't make a fist with my left hand for a good two years. I had to buy a $80 mouse that died every other month, but it was the only one long and flat enough where I could use it for work. I still have some problems time to time, usually affects my ability to play guitar more than fish. Speaking of which, I had to sell off all of my guitars and buy guitars with slightly thicker and more neck shapes I can play now. Your diet can actually help a bit. It was that and quitting smoking that did it for me. Even simple things like not eating things like tomatoes can help if its arthritis. Quote
