pauldconyers Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 I'm looking for something to carry 4-6 rods from the van to the docked boat when I take the wife and kids out to our pontoon and do some fishing. I am just sick and tired of grabbing them in one hand and worrying about scratching my high dollar rods up or getting them all tangled up with all the exposed treble hooks and lines on the rods. I don't think I want the style that looks like a piece of luggage where you zip up the bag around them. I realize this style I'm talking about would not offer much rod tip protection or protection from the elements but I am not concerned about that. Just wanted to see if anyone had some personal experience with this model. I found this link and a video of it in action: https://www.tackledirect.com/md-outdoor-anglers-tote.html Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted November 27, 2020 Super User Posted November 27, 2020 A number of years ago I had that tool or I had one that looked just like it. I bought mine through Cabelas. I found the plastic a little brittle. One of the places that you snapped the rod into broke within a couple of weeks. Within a year or so it was unusable for its intended purpose. I repurposed it as a rod stand in my fishing shed. The plastic base, the aluminum poles and the T at the top hadn't broken so I used it as a rod stand and placed the rods upright in the base and used rubber bands around the nearest guide to hold the rod upright. It kinda worked for that purpose. Until it didn't - the plastic tray and plastic T kinda disintegrated . Never did work for its intended purpose. I'd keep looking for a better design. Quote
