Super User Hammer 4 Posted November 23, 2020 Super User Posted November 23, 2020 I have a 12 year old bottle of JJ's, I'm skeered to open it up..lol Quote
Super User Spankey Posted November 23, 2020 Super User Posted November 23, 2020 I’ve been using it a long long time. Since Fish Formula came out or a least when I first found out about fish formula. I use craw and garlic scent. Does it work? I don’t know. Does not seem to hurt. I don’t apply it to baits that come scented (PowerWorm). Would I recommend it. Probably not. No one recommended it to me I just tried it and have stuck with it. Buy one and try it. If you don’t think it’s worth it you are not out much money. One of those thing where you have to form your own opinion. Quote
ThatZX14Fella Posted November 24, 2020 Posted November 24, 2020 I don't buy into it. I've actually had a negative effect with it for the most part. I can be catching fish back to back, put scent on, and I don't get another bite. That's not to say that I don't catch fish when I do scent it, but more often than not, if I'm not catching them without scent, I don't catch them with it, either. 1 Quote
Super User Spankey Posted November 24, 2020 Super User Posted November 24, 2020 Way back when I thought bass would have found the garlic to be extremely offensive. I truly thought this was not gonna workout but I had to try it. In my area the river smallies seem to like it. I only use it on soft plastics. Never really gave it any thought to apply to hard baits. I would never try to sell anyone on it. To each his own. Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted November 24, 2020 Super User Posted November 24, 2020 Somebody gave me a bottle of some kind of garlic scent. It worked more like a repellent than an attractant for some reason...??♂️ Quote
schplurg Posted November 25, 2020 Posted November 25, 2020 I see Greg Blanchard (Youtuber) using a stick type, like a deodorant. Anyone use those? Seems like an easy way to apply and probably wastes very little of it. I haven't tried scent yet. Quote

At any rate, I have some and have used it sparingly on my 6" Hudds, no takers, but that shouldn't be a forgone conclusion to it's effeteness.. I'll give it more time and report back. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/BioEdge_Semi_Solid_Wands_1_2oz/descpage-BESSW.html 1 Quote

There are places near me where I could do this from shore, like in 2 feet of water, but next year Thanks! Quote

They are more like a big tube of Chap Stick but they are solid and supposedly dont melt when hot and just rub it in and go. Quote

However, they will melt in the middle of a hot summer day, so if at all possible, store them in an upright position when in the heat. I made a scent/dye box that does just that as well as stops me from dyeing the carpet in my boat. 2 Quote

I can't remember the brand. 1 Quote

Super User Catt Posted November 26, 2020 Super User Posted November 26, 2020 I use "worm juice" for two purposes first as a lubricant because I fish grass a lot and the "worm juice" helps my plastic baits slide through easier. I use Baitmate (clear) with a ½ oz of 100% pure anise oil added; this is to mast any odor my plastic may have pick up. Quote
schplurg Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 Blanchard does use the KVDs. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00X5AYZUS/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=gregbl-20&camp=1789&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B00X5AYZUS&linkId=4f58a79694f17823aac8c3240d2aa01e Quote
Super User RoLo Posted November 26, 2020 Super User Posted November 26, 2020 In truth, there's no serious bass angler in existence, who doesn't waste money on his sport. As for me, I never employ fish scents, and never intend to until black bass develop barbells. In the final analysis, it's really not up to me at all, but is up to the bass itself: Roger 1 Quote

Super User whitwolf Posted November 27, 2020 Super User Posted November 27, 2020 I usually take a year dropper and put enough clear JJ'S magic Into each bag of plastics. It lasts for quite a while and takes away the step of applying on the boat. If I do choose to dye the tails in Chartreuse I also do it at home but allow the baits to dry for as least an hour. If they are not completely dry the Chartreuse will run into the other part of the baits. There are times I use Megastrike also. It's usually around grass or waterweed to help the bait glide through more easily. It has never had an adverse reaction when teamed with JJ'S. I have no idea nor have any numbers to suggest it attracts fish. Do they hold it longer? Maybe. The one thing I do know for sure is that I'm confident when I use them. Location is king and when you team that with confidence it's what you need for success. Just my thoughts. 1 Quote
