how do you like the dobyns fury compared to SLX? since you had both to use

I broke the tip off my week-old SLX rod earlier this year when loading up after a trip. I said a few bad words and the next day bought a replacement. Then a week later I had to run back to Academy to buy some bait and decided to take my receipt and the rod up there just to ask if they could do anything for me. I was truthful that it was an accident on my part, but they didn't care - they gave me store credit for the rod. I used it to pick up a Dobyns Fury, in fact. I recently added two Sierras and I have a Champ XP on the way but I still like my SLX a lot.

also anyone know anything about the kast king perigee? i heard nice things about it especially for the price

The Fury is a 705CB compared to the med heavy / fast SLX so it's not really apples to apples. I know that I'm fishing with quality gear so I don't worry so much about which is better, I just figure out what lures I want to throw and pick a rod based on that.

@MN Fisher just making sure the fr703c and fr733c is the same, but one is only 3 inches longer? it’s kinda weird in my opinion how on their website the 733 is not listed as a t rig rod but the 703 is, idk but my 733 is coming in on my birthday hopefully

Ya - sometimes I don't know what Gary and Co are thinking with their recommendations for lures. I use them in general, but pretty much decide based on the lure/line weights listed as to what I use them for.

I'd consider the 703 and 733 as pretty much the same rod - you will get a bit more distance casting with the 733...longer rod=more distance but less accuracy.

I've got a rod that's been 'Accepted for shipment' since the 27th. Ya, it's going to take some time.

Straight up truth ? until I have a real boat and a vehicle capable of safely transporting my rods I will not spend over $100 on a rod

Another rod killer is a boat hatch coming down unexpectedly. Either from wind, wave, or tournament partner. Thankfully, my only run in with this beast mangled a reel handle instead of a rod. ?

i hope they come before this weekend but i guess time will tell, happy holidays

my reel just came in that was ordered 2 days later and had to get shipped from ups to usps and my rod that was usps is still in transit since the 28th lol? i really think it’s lost... but for 80 the fuego is a nice reel, i like the feel better than the slx it has a “tank” feel, also i got a sweet deal on the lews speed spool for roughly 60, not sure if that’s a great deal, but is it a good reel? i heard it’s okay?

It'll be fine. Find fish. Catch fish. Don't worry about your new reels and enjoy yourself.
