Primitive fisherman Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 If you have to pick only one rod brand to fish bottom contact baits like Texas rigs and jigs what would it be? Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted November 20, 2020 Super User Posted November 20, 2020 Irod makes some good rods for what you want. Quote
Super User Catt Posted November 20, 2020 Super User Posted November 20, 2020 Don't have a favorite brand, just a favorite feel ? 3 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted November 20, 2020 Super User Posted November 20, 2020 You will get a more helpful response if you give us a pricing point. Quote

It wasn’t so much a post to be helpful in a purchasing decision. It’s more that I’ve seen so many people talk about different brands I was curious if there was a majority vote on a brand with no budget. Quote

It's all about personal preference - especially when you get into the high-end rods Diawa Dobyns G. Loomis Megabass St. Croix All those, when at the upper ends, are considered good brands. There's a minor difference in weights, balance and feel - so it's up to you to test them to find which works best for you. Quote

Without a budget, the survey turns into either a question of brand loyalty or just about the most expensive, high end rods each individual has been exposed to. For example, my contribution to the conversation would be Bass Proshops Tourney Special 2017 edition, but I do not really think that is what you are asking, and it really is not useful. Note, I am speaking from recent experience. I made a similar post to yours not long ago only without a survey, and it did not provide much feedback. Quote
Michigander Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 Would probably be better to ask what is the most sensitive bottom contact rod that you own. I have a decent collection of rods and they are all different brands. Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted November 20, 2020 Super User Posted November 20, 2020 My #1 jig/worm rod is their KLX 7' MH/F. I own Magnesiums to Heliums. They're made here and just 'feel right' to me. Quote

Yeah it seems like everyone is all over the place, I should have asked best mid range brand. Around that $200 and under. My rod line up is small and probably won’t splurge on a high end rod until I’ve built up a collection and found a brand that feels right to me. So a better question if I was to redo it would be “what brand makes the best ‘bang for your buck’ mid range (under $200) worm/jig rod” I know opinions will still very greatly, but maybe help the average consumer better than everyone saying their $300+ Is the best rod because well, for that price it better be a good rod. Michigander Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 Well in that case, I'll put the TFO Tactical Elite rod in the mix at $199. I have the 7'4" Heavy and it is amazing for sensitivity. I can feel very light bites and get a lot of wonderful feedback on what my jig is bumping against. It revolutionized my ability to explore heavy cover. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted November 20, 2020 Super User Posted November 20, 2020 Okuma This is the newest version for $180 https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-OKUMARDS.html?from=basres Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted November 22, 2020 Super User Posted November 22, 2020 Well, since all I own are Dobyn's rods (Fury's to be specific)...naturally I voted "other". J/K....I voted Dobyn's. Quote
