I have a question about Tournament Jersey use. Has anyone ever added logos for companies they don't represent on pro-staff etc? I have a friend who just has a bunch of gear preferences and made a jersey up with all the companies of the rods, reels and tackle he uses. Is this something that is done frequently? Or does this seem odd? Asking for a friend lol...

Happens all the time. No way every jersey wearer I see at shows and on the water are all sponsored or supported. The companies would go out of business. I think a lot of guys just like to look the part ?

I haven't done it, but I am thinking I could make some extra money by doing so. I would guess Megabass, Spro, Costa, Minn Kota, etc. would throw money at me after watching me fish. Please sir, how much will it cost us to have our names removed from your jersey. :)

Can I get in on that deal?

HahHa! Just come down to East Tennessee on a Saturday morning and drive a winding mountain road. You will see 4.3 million cyclists all wearing jerseys with company names all over them. And not a single one of the cyclists are actually sponsored by anyone. Also remember to bring a long novel to read while you attempt driving a couple miles

I should get a pic of my wife's face on a jersey since she's the one that has to OK all my fishing trips now.  That's kinda like being sponsored, right??

People like to support the brands they like. Why do you think people buy branded clothing (Nike, Apple, Ford, etc), or hats/jerseys of their favorite team...player?  Are they trying to pretend they're employed by that company, or on those teams?  No. But they want to show their support; and that's what branded apparel does.

Nothing wrong with that.  So if somebody wants to wear a jersey with logos of the brands they like, great! To me, it says they really enjoy the sport of bass fishing.

I don't do it.   I go to a lot of trouble to find decent fishing shirts & shorts that don't have a logo on them, or at least not a blaring conspicuous logo.  I understand that my opinion isn't the norm however I have issues being an uncompensated human bill board.

I get it.   I'm the guy who tried to sharpie out the swoosh on my tennies....and asked the car dealers to remove their decal before I drove off the lot

Great info thanks guys! I think I agree with both sides of it. I've always just put who I rep on my shirts. But I totally see wanting to sport the companies you like just for kicks. Other sports do it so why not this one. I guess it all comes down to personal preference.

Not to long ago when I had sponsors one of the “suggested conditions” of a few was to wear their gear.
There was no requirement but I did it anyway.

I customized mine a little by adding a few of the products I just liked, as the ones they gave me looked a little lost by themselves.

Our club does team jerseys with our names. Local companies sponsor our club, so those are the only logos I elected to put on my jersey, except for the boat brand I own, that one I threw in there. We have the B.A.S.S. And FLW logos in the appropriate locations in the event that one of us were to fish a state or national level tournament, it would meet the requirements.

When we are at our weigh inns and doing community type work, I think wearing the jersey gives the club members a uniform and professional look, acting that part can be another matter for some. ? I don’t care to wear it any other time. If someone wants to wear one for the heck of it, more power to them!

Lol I don’t do tournaments and never plan to. Our fishing “jerseys” are camo shirts.

We fish out out of a bass tracker I bought from a couple who let their college boys take it to university. It has the “B” in Bass Tracker peeled off on both sides....

We probably look like the biggest red necks when we’re out.

Back in the day it was “in” to wear a vest covered with patches of tackle mrf’s and clubs , tackle boxes covered with decals etc, etc.

Today patches are decal logos covering the boat, tow vehicle etc.

My best friend and fishing buddy owns a fish Jersey co. He is all the time making me a Jersey with all the brands I use. Even made one for me being a veteran. He makes and sells lots of them. And anytime I am on my boat I have one on.
