Super User Darth-Baiter Posted November 17, 2020 Super User Posted November 17, 2020 Fishing lingo will be the death of me what does slow rolling mean? Just dragging it slow, just fast enough to get it to chatter? Quote
Mbirdsley Posted November 17, 2020 Posted November 17, 2020 For a chatter bait I’d say reeling just fast enough to get the blade moving and keep it moving. Will also result in your bait being deeper or near the bottom depending on how deep you are. slow rolling a chatter bait is one of my favorite Things in the spring. I’ll slow roll a spinner bait any time, place or weather condition. 1 Quote

BigAngus752 Posted November 17, 2020 Posted November 17, 2020 @Mbirdsley gave a good definition. Slowly cranking so your bladed jig thumps along just a few inches off the bottom. This technique is also outstanding for seeing my face light up when I set the hook on an enormously heavy fish only to be dejected 1.5 seconds later when I realize it's a stupid catfish. 1 Quote
ajschn06 Posted November 17, 2020 Posted November 17, 2020 It means you slow roll the chatterbait? Quote
Fishingmickey Posted November 17, 2020 Posted November 17, 2020 By definition IMHO "slow rolling" was usually referring to spinner baits (3/4 - 1 oz weight). Cast them, let them sink to the bottom and then retrieving them very slowly just off/or bumping the bottom. I don't see any reason it would be any different for the chatterbait. The slow rolling technique can be deadly for both baits. FM 2 Quote
