Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted November 16, 2020 Global Moderator Posted November 16, 2020 Yeah, since adding another rig to my fleet, probably not a lot of movement going on for me at the deadline. Quote

Steelhead Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 Most of the tackle I want as of today, aren't available in colors and/or sizes. Some new products that are on my list will not be available until the New Year. The dates keep getting pushed back. Quote

I've already got about $200 of items in my wishlist - that's after the 20% markdown BTW. Are we sure it's coming this year? I saw somewhere on a facebook group that they weren't having the BF sale this year. If they do, I'm sure I can find something, but I've been waiting for the Dirty Swim Jigs to come back in stock for like 6 months..... Quote

Right there under latest news. Maybe they'll mark some products as restocked once the BF starts. That's my theory anyways. 1 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted November 16, 2020 Global Moderator Posted November 16, 2020 I think @Bluebasser86is my new favorite tackle store. The stuff he makes is very affordable and catches bass! Better quality than store bought for the price 1 Quote

To me, the Sierras feel noticeably better/lighter than the Fury rods and aren't that much more. Great choice IMHO! Quote

I have several dirty jigs models on my want list but most of them are sold out and you can't even backorder them at this point, so I figure I'm going to have to place an order earlier in 2021 and miss out on the sale for jigs Quote

Have to suffice with the 1/4s until later. 1 Quote

There's also some other sites although with less of a selection that offer similar deals as well. Quote

My best producer is a 1/2 oz white with a white Rage Tail Structure Bug. 1 Quote

lynxcat Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 I’ve got about 40 things on my TW list which is scary and completely unnecessary...but I definitely still need them all ? My big purchase or gift is a new baitcast setup. I’m still trying to figure out exactly what power and action rod I need to add. I fish shallow ponds 99% of the time so this is much more of a want than a need. I know the reel - going with a Daiwa Tatula Elite in the high speed. For rods, I already have a MH/F and a M/F baitcast that I’m confident in. I have a very nice ML/F spinning setup I got earlier this year (and will be my go to Ned setup this winter). The never fish crankbaits because they get caught in vegetation too often so a moderate action feels unnecessary. A Heavy/Extra Fast seems like the biggest gap in the arsenal but a rarely pitch and flip. I don’t mind frogging but rarely in stuff too thick for a MH. However, I’m starting to fish jigs way more often so this could be a dedicated jig rod (possibly a Chatterbait rod too?). Two rods I’m looking at the closest are: - Daiwa Tatula Elite 7’6 Heavy/Fast Ish Monroe - Dobyns Champion XP 744 Split Grip. Framed as the “jig special” Welcome any advice! I could also just add another MH/F to the collection since I can fish most baits on it effectively. Quote

The Tatula Elite is a flipping rod and you would typically use that for flipping and pitching - has the AGS guides too so that's a pretty sweet rod. I have the regular Tatula 7'6" - didn't want the 8' model because I can sit and flip it in my kayak. Typically, you would want to pair this up with some heavy braid and throw into heavy cover looking for bass there. The Champion XP is labeled as a heavy rod, but it's the equivalent of a Daiwa medium heavy, they run a little bit lighter than their rating - and Daiwa runs a little bit heavier. My oldest son has a Sierra 704C which should be fairly similar except in length. It's not a flipping stick by any means, but is a pretty solid rod to cast or even skip a 3/8oz or 1/2oz jig, probably on some 15 or 17lb fluorocarbon or maybe 40lb braid and optionally a 15lb leader. To be honest, this would be more inline with how I use a jig as heavy cover in most of the lakes I fish is very situational. For a dedicated jig rod that is not a flipping stick, I'm very interested in the Megabass Destroyer FMJ Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted November 19, 2020 Super User Posted November 19, 2020 Well - relatives gifts are already in...didn't get the Striker 7SV...so pulled the trigger at Cabelas and have a 7CV on it's way to me. 3 Quote

It doesn't have maps built in - but it does have Wi-Fi. Hook it up through that to the Active Captain app and you can download maps people have shared. All the local lakes I fish are there - so I'm good. 1 Quote

I'm not gonna lie, going out on a kayak and going around the lake to make a map and check out the bottom before you start fishing is quite fun. Quote
