I'm not gonna lie, going out on a kayak and going around the lake to make a map and check out the bottom before you start fishing is quite fun.

Well, I have limited fishing time...I may personally map the areas I fish - just as a check...but having maps to start with is a time saver.

Yeah, it's not always viable, but if you get the chance - it's usually something fun to do on night one of camping when you have limited time on the water for example.

It doesn't have maps built in - but it does have Wi-Fi. Hook it up through that to the Active Captain app and you can download maps people have shared. All the local lakes I fish are there - so I'm good.

Ok good. I got one of the early Striker 7 models that just had the white screen and it was a mistake. Been  collecting dust as a 2d emergency backup for years.

Ya - they added Wi-Fi and the ability to link to Active Captain with the Plus model.

I usually sit the fishing black friday sales out, as I am on to my winter hobby of shooting and reloading. But that stuff is unobtainium at the moment. I'm well stocked, but my OCD prevents me from opening kegs of powder, or bricks of primers without knowing when I can replace it. So this year I'll be hitting the fishing sales hard. At the very least for stocking up on the essentials....hooks, terminal tackle, soft baits that I go through tons of. I'll save the trying new stuff for later.

Well - relatives gifts are already in...didn't get the Striker 7SV...so pulled the trigger at Cabelas and have a 7CV on it's way to me.

That’s the one I want but I don’t know if the transducer will fit in my kayak scupper hole

Thanks but I don’t need more stuff in my way to trip over lol

I picked up the Scotty mount - several reviews rate it higher than the YakAttack.

So now, instead of the transducer being on the TM - it'll be slightly in front of where I sit...so I see what's actually under me instead of what I've passed over already.

Where does that thing mount?

If you were going to side mount the fish finder, I wouldn't think it's too much different.

It can either be mounted vertically or horizontally - the base allows you to come in from the top or the side.

Sorry, I mean does it screw directly to the hull?

Yes - there are pre-drilled holes in the mounting base. Screw or bolt on.

I've already spent $1100 on 3 X-Ray Blanks and 1 Phenix X10 Blanks + Torzite & SiC guides & G2 Carbon Handles for two, CFX Carbon Composite for one, & Winn Grip for another + Carbon reel seats & rod building materials, including a rod wrapper & dryer. I just received my last blank and the bulk of the components in the mail today, so it's going to be a busy month.

I still need to get a Vanford spinning reel and some GoPro 8 batteries on the TW BF sale. And, if there is a good enough sale on an Old Town Sportsman 106 Powered by Minn Kota, I will probably ****** one up.

Unfortunately, trying to buy a house in the DC area is forcing me to limit my tackle spending.  I may pick up a Phenix M1 during the TW sale. Love the look of those rods and looking to expand out of the St. Croix, Kistler, Shimano realm.

Terminal tackle is the only thing on my list. I opened my small t-tackle box in the rain, and forgot about when i got home. Got a box full off rusted and corroded stuff. Need to replace most of it..

I dumped all of it in my ultrasonic cleaner, and did salvage some.

Little to no plans for me. I used my Black Friday fishing stash on a new phone. I held on to my old one as long as I could.

Somebody stop me - last year's TW-BF order was $225...right now my cart has over twice that (after the discount)...and I'm still looking around.
