Just something to consider. Thanks. I'll check it out tomorrow. I've never been down lake beyond that big bay NW around the peninsula from Dukes. FWIW, that big bay, between Rawlins and Boggs points, seemed like it should be awesome, but never got a bite the two times I worked it. The party boats sure liked it, though. Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted May 2, 2022 Super User Posted May 2, 2022 Thanks, @TOXIC. Dukes does present a fairly kayak friendly amount of water. Unfortunately, I didn't get much figured out Saturday. It was very slow. I did get bites deep on windy points, but struggled to get hooksets. The one keeper i did get was on shallow wood. I fared better Sunday up lake, but it was still much slower than I thought it should be. Only one I caught appeared to be post-spawn, surprisingly. Most were caught on spinnerbait pretty shallow. Super User TOXIC Posted May 2, 2022 Super User Posted May 2, 2022 That lake is just soooo hard to figure out. When I was guiding, I was on the water even without clients just to keep up on their movements. Most that do well there have a milk run of brush piles and known structure. 1 Quote
Jeremy M Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 I will be at Lake Anna next week for a family vacation, staying way up lake near Hickory Cut. Unfortunately, I'll only have a canoe so my range will be limited. I'm wondering if anyone has any advice for this general area and time of year? Many thanks. Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted June 30, 2022 Super User Posted June 30, 2022 That's a decent area, if I'm understanding correctly....I think there's a home near there with a seaplane hangar? General advice.....go out early or late. Most fish are going to be deep and fishing main points in a canoe with ski and wake boats passing yards away won't be fun. There's plenty of good points around there. I'd throw big worms, cranks and jigs, targeting fish around 15-18 feet. Seems to me There's a couple brush piles in coves nearby, but I don't recall exactly looking at satellite image. Early morning, you can fish same points, but up a bit shallower. You can also catch some on walls, both rock and man-made. Good luck. Let us know how it goes Oh...and don't pass a dock without skipping a senko or jig up under it....especially if the end is in 12+ FOW. 1 Quote
Super User Bird Posted June 30, 2022 Super User Posted June 30, 2022 All of us that have been making the 2 hr drive to Anna for many years have been reporting the same thing...... Anna has been consistently producing better fish recently compared to the past. Not sure why but numbers and size have been very encouraging. I've only fished the cold side. Oh, this was yesterday, Sturgeon creek. 3 Quote

Don't know about a seaplane hanger as this will be my first time staying in this area (mom rented a house for the family). I definitely will only be fishing early and late as daytime will be family time (wife would kick me out ?). I'll provide a report when I get back. 2 Quote
