Super User new2BC4bass Posted November 13, 2020 Super User Posted November 13, 2020 It is pretty. Never heard of the brand. Sorry. Quote
moguy1973 Posted November 13, 2020 Posted November 13, 2020 If you want a cheaper spinning reel spend a few more bucks and get a Kastking Sharky III. Nice reel. 2 Quote

Nice reel. I've been very happy with my Pflueger Trion reels...another option in the low price category. 3 Quote
Nelson Delaney Posted November 13, 2020 Posted November 13, 2020 Looks like a reel made to catch people eye more than fish. Quote
garroyo130 Posted November 13, 2020 Posted November 13, 2020 I say go for it. Idk what gearcas are but this reel has GOOD ones. Quote
Michigander Posted November 13, 2020 Posted November 13, 2020 If you're in the market for an inexpensive spinning reel that isn't total junk: Finesse and general applications https://www.amazon.com/SHIMANO-Sienna-Spinning-Fishing-Ratio/dp/B07WK5NSN8/ref=asc_df_B07WK5NSN8/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=367467590288&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8213163488709625100&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9017263&hvtargid=pla-852919841401&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=76073046413&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=367467590288&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8213163488709625100&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9017263&hvtargid=pla-852919841401 Heavy and brute force applications https://www.amazon.com/Penn-Pursuit-Spinning-Reel-2500/dp/B07GJYD2VW/ref=asc_df_B07GJYD2VW/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312142476371&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=10385272313583576428&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9017263&hvtargid=pla-570098020223&psc=1 2 Quote
GetFishorDieTryin Posted November 13, 2020 Posted November 13, 2020 Its a nice looking reel but beware of the chinesium reels, they are not as they appear. Shimano has some decent sub 100$ reels but the Daiwas are lighter and just as smooth often at a better price. The Regal would be a good option and you may even be able to get a Exceler on ebay for another 20$ that will blow anything at that price point away. Ive only had a couple of them, but there are too many people who love Pfluegers entry price reels for them to be bad. That runic looking symbol on the Chinese reels spool looks awful familiar and I'm not talking about AC DC. Anyone else recognize it? 2 hours ago, garroyo130 said: I say go for it. Idk what gearcas are but this reel has GOOD ones. The pinion gear being brass is good. The issue is the main is most likely a low quality cast zinc which may wear from the contact with the brass. 1 Quote

wisconsin heat Posted November 13, 2020 Posted November 13, 2020 It sure is pretty! And honestly it might be a fine performer, most of these reels are made in the same factories and made of the same parts as mainstream reels. Just don't be surprised if you buy it and it ends up falling apart haha... FWIW the Daiwa reels from the revros lt and up are AMAZING for the $$ I have a revros LT and know multiple folks with the regal/rg.. the reels are honestly just dynamite for the money. So as pretty as this is, I would have a hard time taking a shot in the dark at this reel when I know that for the same price I can net a home run with a revros lt. 1 Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted November 13, 2020 Super User Posted November 13, 2020 Good choices recommended here, Kastking Sharky III, Pflueger Trion. I have them and can vouch for them. I would add the $59.99 Lew’s Speed Spin. It’s my current favorite spinning reel. Smooth and strong. It’s black, silver and grey not the Ike approved color of the Amazon reel. The color of the reel goes with any rod I have paired it with. I like it so much I bought 3 sizes, 100 - 300 1 Quote
Bassun Posted November 14, 2020 Posted November 14, 2020 I have a souyalyang, actually two. One has 13BB, nice instant anti reverse, and all in all pretty smooth. Only thing I dont like about it is the grip on the handle is round. Hate that. The other, 11 BB I think, no instant anti-reverse but pretty smooth. Not great, not horrible. BUT all that said, the Pfluger Trion is a better reel at basically the same price. I would 100% recommend the Trion over the Souya's. Quote
plawren53202 Posted November 14, 2020 Posted November 14, 2020 A couple of the Googan/Kickin Their Bass crowd bought some Sougayilang reels and tried them out in videos. They ranged from "not horrible, but not great" to one baitcaster that literally fell apart during the video. I would imagine that the spinning reels would fare better than baitcasters, and it's not a fortune to spend even if it's total crap, so if you feel like living dangerously or like the colors, then go for it. If you're just in the market for a lower priced spinning reel, I can't recommend highly enough the Shimano Siena that was mentioned above, as well as the Lew's Laser Lite Speed Spin. Both are $29.99 most places. I picked the two up because I needed spinning reels to serve essentially as line holders for crappie jigging poles, and I had read good reviews about both of these. Both of them are super solid reels, that I honestly can't believe can be had for that price. 1 Quote
mrpao Posted November 14, 2020 Posted November 14, 2020 I say go for it. Might as well try out new things to see how they are. If it last a season or two, then you got your money out of it. I told myself I would never by a Kastking. Well I just recently ordered a Kastking zephyr to try out. I figured for such a cheap price might as well try it out. If I don't like it, I can always sell it and get most of my money back. Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted November 15, 2020 Super User Posted November 15, 2020 39 lbs of drag on a spinning reel with a graphite frame. That's laughable on so many levels. If it's true it's a recipe for snapping a neck. 1 Quote

I would go to the fishing flea market section here on the forum and look for a good reel for the same money your willing to spend on a posible pos. Either way good luck. 1 Quote
