Mega 360

Just ordered it today! I have done a lot of research on it and Livescope. Obviously, already having the birds it was almost a no-brainer to go with the 360. I don't expect to see the fish and throw at them like we saw Walters doing on Fork, but I do expect to see a lot more structure and cover than I am currently seeing. I consider myself a decent fisherman at 8 fow or less and far less than average at deeper water. I am hoping that this will help me key in on places I am missing with my current unit. I have been doing a lot of studying on Google Earth pro and creating waypoints and transferring them to my maps on my units by looking at the historical pictures and finding structure when the lakes were way down in years past. I hope that this will help my to fish those areas better then maybe I could. I am fairly new at this game when it comes to using all this new stuff so we will see how it goes.

You will love it. It will make you an even better fisherman in that 8 feet of water or less range. You will be able to find grass lines like you never could before.

It will more than likely be more than I want to spend. I'm guessing $3,000 is what it will take if they release a "live" version of something.

Well, it's done. I got the Ultrex installed, the recessed foot tray and the Mega 360. Big thank you to @Dirtyeggroll for his advice and help along the way. I will get out tomorrow and test it all out on the water. Not a bad install process at all. Aside from not using my head anyway LOL. I can't wait to see if I like it.

 

*Note - I am almost certain I will want to upgrade to at least a Helix 10 from my 8, but that may have to be a spring time purchase.

Congrats and I am officially Jealous

btw - while that trolling motor stabilizer bar is probably better than nothing,

it sort of ends right there.

If you are looking to do what that thing says it does but doesn't,

The TH Marine Troll-Tamer Trolling Motor Locking System is the way to go.

Super easy to install and is Rock Solid.

Cheap way to help protect that investment, 

especially when purchased during any pending sales.

I was able to get out on the water today for a couple hours and here are my first impressions. First with the Mega 360. I launched and pulled over to some timber and power poled down to play with the settings and get a feel for how things looked with different color palettes, range, sensitivity, etc. After messing around with it for a bit I figured I would try to fish till dark. I had took note of some structure back when the lake was low so I wanted to pull up on it and see if I could cast to it by seeing it on my 360. As soon as I saw it I put the power poles down and grabbed a squarebill. I threw where I thought the brush was based off the image on the 360 and second cast I caught one. I thought "no freaking way", this can't be this easy. Well, I can tell you, IT'S NOT!!! I fished another hour or so and didn't get a bite, LOL. I spent a lot of time looking at the screen and trying to figure out what different objects were and exactly where they were in relation to the boat. I think this is a tool that I will get a lot of use out of but it will take some time to learn how to use it to make it worth having. I will say, it isn't near as easy as most of these You Tube videos make it seem. Overall, very happy my first trip out with it.

 

Now the Ultrex. I had no idea what I was missing out on by using that Terrova this whole time. Don't get me wrong, it did the job and I probably wouldn't have caught any more fish had I had an Ultrex, but this is a whole different ballgame. The responsiveness is not even close. I only had it on 5 or 6 and the first time I put my foot on the pedal to turn it I almost threw myself out of the boat. You literally can just touch the pedal and it moves. The Terrova was a stiff press to get it to move. The only thing I can tell will take some getting used to is the buttons for the constant on and the auto pilot are sort of hard to reach in the tray, but it is just something different. I was VERY happy with the way it handled and look forward to using it. 

 

I think these two items are going to make fishing a lot more enjoyable for me. I don't know one way or the other if they will help me catch more fish, but they can't hurt.

My first gen 360 died recently.  I'm having a hard time deciding if I want to spend $495 to fix it,  buy a second gen, or wait for for what's coming next.  When I do replace it,  I'll be adding a troll jacket after seeing your photos.  That's a nice set up you've got there.

Just get the Mega. No new 360 tech soon, maybe live (non 360) though in the spring.

I suspect that they have 360 live loaded on the trucks ready to ship and are just waiting for me to upgrade to 360 mega before they roll it out.

There will be no 360 live. It will be live but not 360, very similar to what already exists.
