Super User Maxximus Redneckus Posted November 12, 2020 Super User Posted November 12, 2020 And most times you can find the Korean made revo x inshore for 110 metal framed ..if u like that color enough and have a talented friend with a airbrush get it painted Quote
wisconsin heat Posted November 13, 2020 Posted November 13, 2020 From what I've heard this one just isn't up to spec for what they are charging for it. It just doesn't make sense why it's over $100 let alone $150. Revo S is a better reel and it costs close to $100. 1 Quote
rtwvumtneer6 Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 I saw this for the first time in the May Bassmaster: "At the end of the day the activity tracker will read 5,000 casts." Does this refer to a feature that explains the pricing? Can't find any other details, and it's not listed as a feature on any retail sites. I know they are putting the catch tracking button in the "virtual" rods, but why is that caption in the ad for the Zata reel? ? Quote

The profit margins are high on injection molded plastic reels with simple mag brakes must be very high. Expect to keep seeing other brands pushing these types of reels at higher price points. Lews has added a lot of plastic reels over the years and after stepping down from a Doyo dual brake to a linear mag in the current LFS I wouldn't be surprised to see it move to a plastic frame in the next interation at the same price point. Daiwa is no better with their plastic linear mag brake 80 reels that arent even real Daiwas. Nothing wrong with the material and it allows for very affordable reels to be made at low cost in large volume but this push to charge mid tier money or more for what is a nicer Black Max is a little isulting. I own one of those linear mag braking 80s, mine is a CA80 with an aluminum frame which I paid well under the asking price of $99.00 for let alone the $150.00 of the Abu. Yes it’s made by Doyo but still overseen by Daiwa and yes I own “true” Daiwa reels, but if you haven’t used them you shouldn’t knock them either. If I’m not mistaken Abu manufactures none of their reels but continue to receive tons of praise for many of their other products. Lews also comes to mind if I’m not mistaken. Just saying there is an awful lot of criticism for a couple reels in Daiwa’s large lineup. Edited May 16, 2021 by Eric 26 Added content Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted May 16, 2021 Super User Posted May 16, 2021 I watched a review on this reel. From what I saw it had dual brakes. 4 pin internal and an external adjustable magnetic brake. Quote

So, since it probably came out of Doyo factory - it's just a slightly changed Lews Tournament MP or Lews KVD. Same braking system on both those - 4-pin centrifugal and magnetic. Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted May 16, 2021 Super User Posted May 16, 2021 Just now, MN Fisher said: So, since it probably came out of Doyo factory - it's just a slightly changed Lews Tournament MP or Lews KVD. It’s graphite framed so not quite a Tournament MP or KVD both of which are aluminum framed. 1 Quote
Super User PhishLI Posted May 17, 2021 Super User Posted May 17, 2021 Start vid at the 4:25 mark for braking info. Quote
