Super User DitchPanda Posted November 9, 2020 Super User Posted November 9, 2020 What are your go to sauces? Lately I've really liked the Chipotle cholula..little smoky...spicy but not super hot. I also love cheap old trappeys red devil...grew up eating it with my dad. Quote

wisconsin heat Posted November 9, 2020 Posted November 9, 2020 Frank's is no 1 Tabasco is good when you want more heat Cholula has a home in my pantry as well I've tried some jalapeno hot sauces that are really good but haven't found a brand that I can consistently get in stores. While we are on the topic, if anyone has a recommendation for a jalapeno sauce, I'd love to hear it. Quote
Super User jimmyjoe Posted November 9, 2020 Super User Posted November 9, 2020 Tapatio. Great on chicken, seafood and pulled pork. Now you got me hungry again! ? jj Quote
billmac Posted November 9, 2020 Posted November 9, 2020 There is a yellow sriracha that I pick up in Bangkok. I put it on practically everything. Quote

CountryboyinDC Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 Sriracha and Cholula are great sometimes, but I'm with @roadwarrior, there's nothing like Tabasco. I have a 12 oz. bottle in the fridge now. Quote

It doesn't taste bad..but it doesn't taste really like anything. 1 Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted November 10, 2020 Super User Posted November 10, 2020 My favorite is probably Louisiana Hot Sauce, decent heat and good flavor. I also like Cholula, Sriracha and Tapatio. While not really a traditional hot sauce, some of the Blue Top flavors are pretty good too. 2 Quote
hawgenvy Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 Sambal oelek, moderately hot, pure, naturally sweet and flavorful. So delicious, I can almost eat it plain. From Indonesia. 1 Quote
mrpao Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 Texas pete hotter hot sauce. Tabasco. Both have their places. 1 Quote

Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted November 10, 2020 Global Moderator Posted November 10, 2020 Back when I was going through chemo one of my bosses who puts hot sauce on everything game me a bottle of Dave’s Insanity sauce and said “take some of this and it’ll knock that cancer right out of you”. He said this jokingly of course, but my stepmom put a teaspoon of it in a 3 gallon pot of chili and had to dump most of the tomato juice out and start over because it was too dam hot! The label jokingly said great for removing oil spots on your driveway. I wouldn’t be surprised if it actually did! Quote

You don't eat Tabasco peppers, Cayenne peppers, or Jalapeno peppers cause they taste good you eat for the heat. It's like adding salt-n-pepper, you don't want taste the salt-n-pepper! Quote

I'm looking for heat and some flavor. 2 Quote

Super User Mobasser Posted November 10, 2020 Super User Posted November 10, 2020 I've mostly used Tabasco sauce over the years. I'm.also fond of Zatarains Cajun hot sauce. A few shots on some crappie fillets. is really good. 1 Quote

That's funny. That's like telling somebody I like garlic and if you don't your wrong and your mouth is broken. Some people like cilantro and some people think it tastes like soap...neither is wrong. I've tried scrambled eggs and then tried it with Tabasco. I can feel the heat but get very little flavor difference. If I was looking for heat then Tabasco is perfect. I want heat and extra flavor...I don't get it with Tabasco. If you like it that's cool...its the most famous hot sauce ever for a reason...just doesn't do it for me. 1 Quote
