This is the tip of the iceberg and there are many more .They are a booger to get a texas rig or jig through . I understand that snags are inevitable but I can still minimize them . Are you fishing from the bank? How deep down does that brush go? If I were in a boat I would pull right up in there and drop the bait straight down through it. 1 Quote

I try to hang back and work the outside first before getting my jig or worm wedged in the thicker sections . Thats exactly what happens to . I'm not snagging the hook the bait gets wedged in there . Once I move in to get it out the bass are spooked . 2 Quote
Super User WRB Posted December 26, 2020 Super User Posted December 26, 2020 A few years back there was a flat eye casting jig that came with a rubber funnel to cover the hook eye and knot. Can’t recall the brand? Thought that was very clever design to prevent weeds snagging on the knot and hook eye. Tom Quote
Super User Catt Posted December 26, 2020 Super User Posted December 26, 2020 @scaleface When I'm fishing Buck Brush I try to stay as near vertical as possible. I mostly flip Buck Brush targeting opening between limbs, some pitching but not much farther than a flip & a half distance. At least a 7' 6" heavy to extra heavy, fast or extra fast rod. 65# braid on a 7.5:1 or higher reel. On the business end is a 1/2-3-4 oz Jig-n-Craw You'll be surprised how little attention the bass pay to your boat. Often times I put the trolling motor on high to get back into the brush. I went as far as two of us standing on the front deck grabbing the brush & pulling a jon boat into the brush. 2 Quote
